So I have somewhat of a conspiracy theory here, but hear me out... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Apple has a small but devoted team, that is dedicated solely to developing the AI that recreates Steve Jobs' mind right down to the last synapse and quick-tempered, smart ass remark. But also his legendary business skills and perfectionism, which leads me to believe they are a rogue team, operating within Apple - but secretly - and behind Tim's back. Then, when the newly developed Jobsian AI is good and ready to take over Apple forever, almost as if the man himself had been resurrected, the board unanimously votes to oust Tim Cook, and replace him with the consciousness of pure, reincarnated Steve.

Citation please.

Citation please.

No he hasn’t. He’s doing exactly what a CEO should be doing.

Tim probably will, when he hits 65.

Without citations, this is just a meaningless rant.

Doing what a CEO should be doing? Riiiiiight. You mean like seeing to the degradation of Apple’s once most valuable brand, years of no updates to products, a keyboard that after four years and four attempts is still flawed crap, secretly slowing down iDevices, once great customer service now being average at best, ripping off customers for BS repairs not needed, $1000 monitor stands, no longer an innovative company, actually knowing little about the products his company makes? I could go on and on with examples of his incompetence and neglect.

If he really cared about the company he would retire now or go back to his old job.

Meaningless is automatically defending Apple.

Privacy and security trumps the fixing a photo, IMO.

Apple used to have the best cameras on phones. Not anymore. That privacy and security won’t matter much without innovation and superior products.

First, You are entitled to your opinion, no doubt about that. But the argument presented is a bunch of non-connected data points that are strung together to make it appear to be a factual post. (Also this place is at times an echo chamber)
1. The app could have been removed for a reasonable cause.
2. Tim has increased the value of the company and the revenue stream. That’s exactly what a ceo should do. (This is not to say Apple is run “perfectly” or is above some honest criticism.)
3. Everything else is an opinion and if you are the upset with the company, management and board and products maybe you should think about alternatives.
4. Tim does care about the company and it should be evident he is not retiring nor being forced out.

2- Increasing only the monetary value of a company and for the short term is not what a proper CEO should do. The monetary value of a company is less important than its reputation and long term prospects. He also did that by riding on the brand and reputation that Steve Jobs spent many years creating. The brand and reputation he has greatly harmed.

3- The specific deficiencies and neglect I stated are fact. It is also common knowledge in the industry that Apple does NOT have the best camera anymore and hasn’t for years. Telling me to go buy some other products is not a rational retort to anything I said.

4- Because a person stays working at a company doesn’t automatically equal them caring about said company.

The value of Apple increased due to customers buying products and the rapid expansion of iPhone sales and services. That is exactly what a ceo should be doing.

Who is the ultimate authority on the reputation of the company. Not me and not you.

Tim did what he was supposed to and increased the value of the Apple brand. If you believe the brand and reputation were harmed it’s your opinion vs my opinion vs others.

No, it’s a factoid. No one smartphone vendor has the “best camera” in every-all-around situation. That the fact. And Apple beats the competition in many areas, which is a fact. For someone who dislikes the brand, products and management suggesting to someone there are alternatives is a very rational retort.

4- Because a person stays working at a company doesn’t automatically equal them caring about said company.
And nor does it mean they don’t care, since we’re talking generalities and memes.

The last I looked a person is entitled to an opinion. Apple is entitled to conduct business was fair and square and “vile” is subjective. Opinion noted.

The value of Apple increased due to the momentum of the brand and reputation built up over many years under Steve Jobs. The bill of that momentum has been reached and now Tim Crook is on the downslope.

The "ultimate authority on the reputation of the company"? Oh stop with the silly and irrelevant melodrama. I've been using Apple’s products for many years and know the company well. It is former evangelists like me that greatly contributed to its success. If you know Apple well enough and are objective you can see how Apple’s reputation is now less than what it was under Steve Jobs. This is the industry's common and fairly held view.

I've been a photographer since the 70s so I know camera image quality well. Apple cameras certainly do not produce the best image quality in the industry. Their compression rates, for example, are atrocious. Their heavy use of noise reduction is also atrocious. Both of which contribute to noticeably poorer still image quality. Google makes better cameras.

I was addressing the camera, not "other areas."

I've already given good reasons to show that he really doesn’t care, or just as bad, is incompetent. I could give you a much bigger list. Meanwhile your reason that he cares is because he still simply shows up for work.

Ok. The value of Apple increased due to smart moves by Tim.

The only silly melodrama is what is present in these posts. Absolute hyperbole.

I’ve been a photographer since 1960 and I know image quality well also. What I’ve seen in the competition is no one competitor beats Apple in all areas of photography.

I don’t agree with your reasons, which are simply picking a point in time, making a negative connotation about it and then generalizing it to the nth degree. If you have an axe to grind you’ll find something.

But more points to the great ceo that Tim is rather than the opposite. (Calling him tim crook is just childish)

No matter what one thinks of Tim Cook, remember... Steve knew him and Steve picked him to lead Apple. He didn’t just fall into the position.

Don’t get me wrong... I don’t think everything is peachy with Apple. LOL.

I don’t like that they abandoned the Airport product and embraced Carpool Karaoke. Nor how long the Mac Pro was neglected. Nor the keyboard fiasco with the MacBook Pros. Nor the unresponsive touch issues with iPads.

But, he was Steve’s pick. And to me, Steve was the heart and soul of Apple. And yes, I fully realize he is gone.

As great as Steve Jobs was overall, he wasn’t perfect and could never have fully foreseen the results. It's fair to say Steve would not be happy with a lot of the decisions Tim Crook has made, which I think is an understatement.

It’s not fair to say that at all unless you are reaching through the ethereal world to talk to him beyond the grave. For all anybody knows, he may be cheering Tim on, as in full steam ahead; doing a great job etc.

Your bias towards Apple and ignorance about the company and it's history is astounding.

So on your biased view Apple is merely existing?

I have shown no bias against Apple or anything or anyone. I'm am just as capable of praising them as I am in criticizing them. I own quite a few Apple products. If I were biased against Apple I wouldn’t own any of their products.

We (including me) all have (just) criticism about Apple and praise for their successes. It’s the hyperbolic extremes and childish pot shots that is problematic. And being biased gainer Apple doesn’t mean you wouldn’t own any of their products.

I dislike Samsung as a company, yet I own a number of their product.

Who is going to take his place, you? Let's just go out pick some hipster instead of the guy Steve picked. Maybe you could do it.
I think I could do better than Cook :D, may be not on the supply chain side, but for the rest, I would like to give it a try!
