thanks from a family member

Thank you Tim Cook! We get to see our son Thanksgiving because of this. It wasn't feasible for him to fly so far for such a short time before the extra days were added.
So count me as one of the thousands of family members that benefit. I do appreciate it.

Thank you Tim but as usual, retail staff will not spend thanksgiving with family...

we will have to work...

so guys in their offices have their 3 days off, and people working their a_s_s off all year long will continue to enjoy working their a_s_s off for the company and will take these 3 days in Feb or March like past years

great

If you don't think engineers work their asses off, you have no idea about real life.

Call me when you've worked hard enough to earn that kind of consideration. Retail isn't exactly highly-skilled labor.

This is elitist clap trap. I'm sure you think only code monkeys do "real work" with their computers too.

If any high school kid can walk in and do the job with less than an hours training, it's not skilled labor. Apple looks for better than that because they can, but no retail sales job takes any particular skill level, especially when you're selling Apple products and the kid on the sales floor basically just has to take your money and hand you the bag. No salesperson in that store has anything to brag about when it comes to be highly trained. They might be really good at that job, but they can still be replaced by a wide pool of potential candidates. I've worked retail, and anyone who thinks retail employees work harder than engineers or any other job is out of their mind. They're on their feet more and they have to deal with idiots, but it's a mindless job that requires almost no skills of any kind.

If you think that's elitist, I suggest you buy a dictionary and use it.

Depends on your definition of real work I suppose. Working retail doesn't require much skill - even if they lost a couple workers due to "unfair" policies, Apple can find a replacement instantly. A good engineer on the other hand can be quite valuable to the company - replacing him/her may cost them more in the long run.
