what if the shortening supplies are only in amazon ? has anyone seen short supplies on other stores too?

Guys, we need to look at actual supplies - not theoretical shortages. Look at the local apple store for clues. While I agree that the largest retailers like amazon are leading indicators I think the refresh might only be imminent once supplies on the whole become low. We should start seeing tons of articles going on about how abc reseller and xyz reseller are out of stock, no one cab guarantee stock while at the same time apple being dead silent in the face of negative publicity.

I live in south Africa, which I do admit is not a leading indicator by any standard, however every single apple store can guarantee stock and, more importantly, can also guarantee stock of all mbps from it's source - apple Europe.

So I'm saying that I do believe the shortages have started however there is still a long way to go before it becomes noticeable to the average consumer (not the one anxiously following the rumor sites)

hey kamil.
on the 1 hand you're right, apple still have many stock macbooks in their stores, and maybe only retailers are running low. but the thing is, they won't wait until ALL macbooks are sold! when they run low they'll present the new ones and put the old ones in the refurb store (which btw should open in europe too!).
I believe 15 or 22th of february will be the day of the update. 15 probably, if the stock keeps running low.

In Canada everything is in stock, both in stores and online: apple.ca, Apple stores, Futureshop, Best Buy.

I don't think anyone doubts that a refresh is "soon" (within a few months), but I don't think it's nearly as imminent as people think.

I tend to agree

My MicroCenter has 0-3 of every MB/P. Thats like 1 weeks sales. Maybe even 2-3 days of sales.

Went to my local bestbuy today. They are out of the 17" with 4-6 weeks until restock, 15" stock is low, he estimated about a week of stock left. 13" they have plenty of because "its their best selling laptop and they always order a ton of them".

I'm sorry, but LOL.

EDIT: I take it back. You're from Greece.

I work in Currys UK (dont laugh) and with access to PC world and Currys stock file I can confirm shortages of 15" and 17" in our main warehouses (base models of both are showing as 0 available with no order due date). Still a few kicking about in superstores and they are allowing us to do forward orders, but stock is low.
13" model still has 300 or so still available in our central warehouse.

is that like walmart?
