So, just got a new 3TB time capsule, the initial back up period has been going for a couple of days but has become quite slow.

I'm not sure if I can wait 54 years for the first back up to finish.
(it's going faster now, will be finished in about 7 days)

Have the time capsule attached to my network, so the data is going from my computer through the existing router to the time capsule.
Could this be why it's taking so long? Any advice to speeding the wireless transfer speed up?

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I don't have an Ethernet dongle for my laptop.

So I made it make it's own network, transfer will now take a few hours. I'd say the problem was definitely going through another router. It'll be absolutely fine after the first back up.

What MacBook are you using? Try doing it over USB.

RMBP. I would do it over USB but don't have the right cable. Only got a few hours to go so no big deal.

I'm just curious as to why it would go so slow when the time capsule is attached to a network.
