Just called the store here in Littleton. Rep told me they are in the back room and he will not sell me one till tonight or tomorrow.

Whats up with that?

Looks like I will have buy one myself just so I could find out if it supports NFS, I was hoping that there would be any advance users here.

Just picked up a 500GB TC from the Apple Store in West Des Moines, IA. They also had the 1TB in stock and had just gotten them off the truck. So far it's great, does a lot more than my AirPort Extreme ever did, especially in regards to AirDisk working properly. Off to eBay with the old one...

Keep in mind your computes also have to be Wireless-N, in addition to the router being Wireless-N.

If both aren't Wireless N, you are stuck at Wireless-G speeds.

All computers are wireless N. Will the iPhone impact this when I use it with wifi?

Just picked up a 500gb at Portland(OR) downtown store.
Store said they received about 10 of each size within the last hour. Started selling immediately.

One thing I want to know about these is if you can easily have 2-3 macs all backing up wirelessly via Time Machine...and if you can also use it as a regular storage drive.

I have never used Time Machine but I want to get one of these and we have 3 macs that would use it.

Anyone know? I think I might go buy one.

I've backed up a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air to my 500GB Time Capsule with no problems. You can also connect to it as a regular storage drive that shows up on your desktop. Just install AirPort Utility 5.3 that comes with the TC, set a password, and in the sidebar of a Finder window just click connect and enter the password. Both my machines have Leopard installed, though Apple says it should work under Tiger as well.

Just got one at Southpoint Store

Well, I did manage to get a terrabyte one from the store in NC. I called 3 times before (about and hour apart) and they said they didn't have any, but just for giggles called a 4th time and they guy said they had some. To his credit, he was very friendly and offered to put it on hold for me so I just picked it up. They didn't have any on the floor and if you wanted one, you had to ask. All I can say is THANK GOD! cuz my router died and I need my wireless internet!!

Can you use the Time Capsule drive for general storage and not for Time Machine? Like pointing to it for storing media/photos etc? If not I guess the alternative would be attaching a second drive to the TC via it's usb and pointing media storage to that.

Is there any way to set limits to how much time machine will back-up so you can reserve space for regular storage?

Just picked one up in Bellevue, WA

Will have to find out for myself if it supports NFS, otherwise this is junk to me.

You sure can, I just finished moving my TV Shows to the TC. iTunes takes a couple seconds to access the file over the network, but everything works great.

I didn't find such a setting in either the AirPort Utility or the Time Machine preferences. I guess it won't really affect me because the MacBook Air only has a 64GB drive, but it's a good question!

Cool. Are using TC for backups as well? I thought you could not partition the TC hard drive. Can you use TC for back ups AND general storage?

It just works, I turned Time Machine on and pointed it to the drive to back up. I then connected to the drive in the Finder and started storing files on it. Pretty cool and nice out-of-the-box experience.

Well time machine will eventually use all the space in your case .... it will just take a while. For instance my local TM drive has over 270GB of backups even though my mac drive has 156GB of used space. TM keeps files you have deleted ....

Thanks for checking though.
