My 1TB Time Capsule, bought in 06/2008 died this morning. It just died, no splutter, no asking me to hold it because it's so cold, no give its love to Rose, no nothing. Dead.

It was great while it lasted but I don't think I'll be buying another one. 700 bucks for a little over 18 months of use is piss poor.

Mine went out and early Feb took it to Genius bar. She confirmed it was dead. Then proceeded to tell me to send it in to Apple and they would replace it for me.

I saw the boss of the Genius Bar who I knew and I asked him why would I have to send it to Apple when they had some sitting on the store shelf. He then whispered something to her and then she went to the shelf and pulled a 1TB model off it for me.

So I said to her Wow, that was a quick change of heart. No reply from her. So I just walked out with my replacement. She even put on the Work Confirmation sheet "No trouble Found".

Later via email got a rating questionnaire about my experience. I let her have it since she obviously said something that was bulls--- to me which I would not have expected that from Apple near me.

Have never seen her again at the Genius Bar-and I go often with my ProCare Card.

One important thing to remember-the TC warranty runs off any Mac you own that is currently under warranty or extended warranty. It might help to go in with proof of that.
