Thanks! I appreciate it. I'm not sure if I'm happy with the screen on my new one, so I might have to return it and rebuy :(

EDIT: I checked my receipt and there's a new return date of April 8 listed. Looks like if you exchange it, your return period is extended.

Dang, if I knew that I would have just exchanged it, should have asked. Oh well, its off and I will just buy the Verizon version at BB or Target, it's not for me anyway.

Funny the Apple rep on the phone never offered an exchange, asked why I was returning it, I said to get the Verizon version.

That's strange so your iPad 2 worked better via wifi hotspot. Was it an AT&T wifi hot spot? AT&T lte in dc is fast but once the iPhone 5 rolls out with lte I am concerned that it will overload and slow down. That's one of the reasons I switched.

That makes no sense. Both Verizon and AT&T are running a single 10MHz LTE carrier in DC I'm pretty sure, and both will get the iPhone 5. Why would AT&T slow down any more than Verizon? LOL

The difference between AT&T's and Verizon's customer service is definitely like night and day.

I've decided to swap my Verizon iPad for the AT&T version today. I spent $30 for 2GB of Verizon data and went thru it pretty fast, however, mostly to experience the novelty of LTE. I think for me, the ideal price point is the 3GB AT&T plan for $30, so therefore, I'm going to switch. I'm also hoping to get a faster LTE connection. With Verizon I only got around 11 Mbps. I'm envious of those getting over 20, so if the AT&T version gets me that, I'll be really pleased.

My biggest regrete when I switch from Verizon will be the that the iPad will be harder to resell when I upgrade. I think the Verizon version will be more popular, primarily because they have a bigger LTE network. As for tethering, it isn't an immediate need and will like be offered by AT&T in the near future. Needing more than 5GB a month was also something I considered, but that will be rare if ever.

It's a hassle to go back to the store and doing the back-up restoration, but if nothing else, swapping the iPad re-sets the 14 day return window. And testing both companies LTE networks personally, is really the only sure fire way to know which is best for you.

I don't think so. ATT version can be used in LTE canada. I sold couple iphones to canadians. It is 33 M people + market for ATT. These two ipads will have plus-minus the same resell value. May be 20 dollars difference in both directions. VZW in addition, at least for now, has this SIM card issue. People don't know how to reactivate it on 20/1 prepaid plan since you cancel it.

I'm in 3g VZW area and my ipad slow compare to ATT iphone 4s HSDPA+.
The only thing I know for sure after I tried "VZW family": I keep my ATT phone plan with iphone 5. I have Unlimited data 700 min family and ATT kindly added a-list. Also you can call retention and get 20 dollars unlimited SMS. Plus I have a rollover.

I'm going to keep VZW ipad only because 20/1 plan, tethering and the lazyness to drive to Apple store :) Any way make your choice and don't regret, this is just a peace of wise plastic. :)

There are more people with iPhones on att and they will be ready to renew there 2 years when the 5 rolls out. So my prediction: AT&T lte network is small and fast now will grow a little by the end of this year but will really slow down when all of the faithful followers grab the new iPhone with lte and clog the network. Just look at how hspa responds during prime times.

Ok same argument for vzw. By the end of the year their network will expand further and they have been tested with overload and should get better. Will they suffer with the vzw iPhone 5 yes but I do not think as much.

Well is am back to AT&T. Originally ordered AT&T and had pretty good results. Then started seeing the threads about how Verizon was doing and decided this would be a good way to test out if I wanted to make the iPhone switch to Verizon. Went and returned my AT&T for a Verizon unit and just did not get the same results. Her in KC particularly at my work I was having trouble keeping an lte connection and kept falling back to Verizon slow 3G. I also had a lot of trouble with the lte to 3G handoff, very slow. Went and talked to apple specialist and allowed me to swap back to an AT&T unit.

Lte is fast and the fall back to Hspa+ is nice. I realize it's all relative to where you are but I am happy with my AT&T service here in KC.

When you swapped back and forth was that for new boxed retail units or the unboxed warranty iPads?

New. I actually went in on the last day of apples 14 day window. When talking to specialist, not know he was a manager, he gave me one reasons as to why I should keep the Verizon. Hotspot, ability to swap to AT&T 3G sim and so forth. He then said "let me extend your return window another 14 days.". He wrote it on the back of his business card and said if I decided the AT&T is going to better fit my needs bring it back and we will get it squared away. I took the verizon home for a few more days and decided it just wasnt working for my needs. I don't need hotspot and I found it a pain to have to switch back and forth within AT&T sim.

I have been happy with my att service overall, and thinking ahead to shared data plans that may be in the pipeline for all service providers made more sense to me to go back to AT&T.

Interestingly, after I found AT&T LTE speeds in my area a bit slow I also went to the Applestore to swap for a Verizon. The manager offered to extend the return window for me as well (wrote it on the back of a card). I'm currently trying to decide. The hotspot feature is tempting as I have a second, wifi only tablet I could run off it. AT&T has a faster network in spots, but Verizon seems more consistent and they are expanding rapidly. It seems like it took a good 4 years for AT&T to bring 3G to most major cities.

With the hotspot feature on the iPad, if you connect your iPhone to the wifi does the FaceTime work in the iPhone ? If so that is nice.

Yes it works. How lazy of me I tried it myself.

Well, I'm still hunting for a Black 64GB Verizon unit here in Chicago.

What's interesting - I finally found a unit at the Lincoln Park store yesterday afternoon - over the phone I was told: "Oh yeah, we have plenty of them - no worries - come on in."

When I got there about 2-3 hours later, all sold out.

Bonus, though: After hearing my story (about driving an hour and a half through traffic only to find out they sold out), an Apple rep scanned my iPad box into his system, and worked some Apple magic to extend my return period. My receipt now shows that I purchased my iPad on April 1 - so as to give me time to find a Verizon unit...

I thought that was pretty cool - at least now I don't have to stress that the return period will stop me from getting the model I really want.
