Which drive do you own that's busted exactly? 65 for one of them is pretty cheap, even less than over here as usual but sometimes the m500's need a firmware update done by boot cd to work properly with mbp's. 03 revision is the one that works good. The crucial mx100 needs no upgrade they just work

its a samusing 830 ssd.

3 years covered by Samsung. Over here in the uk they usually just ship a direct replacement and not a refund though.

I did not call I called my cc Amex I get one year coverage past the manufactures warrantary and if it failes in that time I get a refund from the cc.

I should get an Amex card lol. Money back on that funds the new ssd selling the mbp for a decent price to subsidise buying the new one! That's what I would do anyway...

Good luck with the sale and don't buy a gouged up replacement Mac, they cost a bomb with the later models to replace the top lid.

I know you don't use it selling but I have got very good deals off eBay for sealed mbp with AppleCare before with sellers with good feedback for clients. Discounts of about 30% off retail with retinas 3 or 4 times this year alone and half a dozen last year at least.

Ya will do. I am looking for deals on new retina Macbook pros the one with the dedicated graphics card. Looking at open box units too get a deal.

I had a maxed out retina 15 with 1tb and 2.8 option cpu earlier with a tb display. Got messed about with a buyer waiting for nearly two weeks so sold it for more money on the second phone call. That had about 26 percent off but sadly it had a uk keyboard!

Try looking for the sealed boxes on eBay rather than opened with AppleCare - the warranty starts the moment it's logged onto the web and pings apple. Checking the serial on apple's warranty status page a very good idea before buying an opened one.

So anyone here got a open box Macbook Pro at best buy? Looking at how to get a good deal

Well I got a question I found a deal at best buy ans the question is in like new condition and according to the people on the phone it's was returned but never used and they told me there is a 10 percent off coupon so it makes it quite a good deal I think. Would you go for it?

Well like I said originally I have a SSD but its failing but even with a SSD for what I use the computer for pro apps it is slow and freezes up a lot.

It might just be me but I find it a bit odd that you keep saying that your SSD is failing, and then in the next breath blaming your MBP for the fact that it's going slow and freezing a lot - do you not think these two issues might be related?

For the record I still use a 2009 MBP with (gasp) the original HDD, and yes it's slower than any SSD equipped model or newer machine machine, but it doesn't freeze or have "usability issues" and it's basically the same nice notebook it was when I bought it.

Well you may be right. Well I am selling my old macbook pro due to its age plus for what I use it for its getting old. Plus due to the problems it has and they could be related to the ssd but not a 100% sure. Plus since I got a Open Box Macbook pro Retina that was geek squad certified and hardly used only had 3 battery cycles and its in like new condition with nothing wrong with it I got it for a steal I got for around 1735.00 plus taxes which was a deal compared to the 2499.00 + tax for a brand new one.

Plus I had the laptop for 5 years and its been heavily used and had a quite a few parts replaced during its ownership via apple care as it was heavily used. The bottom of the laptop no longer has any of the markings on the bottom as they are all but gone. I did not want to replace it but since I been having issues and how old the computer is for what is being used for final cut x photo shop and lightroom and as a way to tether my mirror less camera and finding a decent deal on a new model it made it worth the while to upgrade to a more modern laptop.
