Well an iPod would not have access to any music streaming nor would it be compatible with AirPods. Even an old Apple Watch more than covers all the features of, say, a 6th gen nano. I think it’s a good enough especially if you have old watches lying around.

That's the whole point of owning and using an iPod these days.

as someone who wears a mechanical watch with an iPhone 12 mini and no interest in health-tracking or heart-rate data collection, this makes me want to buy a cellular Apple Watch just to put in this thing. I also have a modded iPod for my music, as I don't like Bluetooth headphones. Ive been looking at dumb phones but haven't been swayed by any.

Maybe I'll get a small refurb Apple Watch for the smallest possible tinypod "phone" and finally be able to leave my obtrusive and clunky 12 mini at home.
I passed my 15 PM to my daughter and got some brand new iPhone SE 1’s I found at a great price. I love them and am reminded what a great phone that was before we were all forced to get tablets. My issue with it is that I won’t be able to use it forever as it is stuck on iOS 15.8 with no upgrade chance and eventually apps won’t work.
I never considered an Apple Watch as I don’t like to have connected tech where a nice mechanical watch or nothing at all used to be. So this may be a nice solution for when the beautiful iPhone SE 1 needs to retire.
I’m hoping Apple will offer a bare tiny phone with a great camera in a revolutionary form factor. Say like a pebble. Curved all around, thick in the center, tiny and with the best camera and great battery life. Oh and make it white ceramic with a whitish nano texture screen.

I'm kind of a fan of this. As someone who uses their watch for a lot of stuff, the worst part if when you need to modify calendar events, etc and have to hold it in one handed navigate with the other. It's a real first world problem, but the screen times out frequently and then you have to retype in the password, plus ergonomically it's not the best experience.

Overall not sure that I'll get one (I'll wait for the reviews) but this is a real handy way to have an iPhone lite (Yes I could and do) just use the watch on my wrist, but for more time consuming stuff, it's much easier to just hold it in your hand. We'll see. Kudos to the developers for thinking outside the box.

Now that the case has been released, has anyone here gotten their hands on one? I completely forgot about it until I started researching some standalone Watch plans for kids.

The very few reviews I found on it so far complain about the plastic, wishing it was a more premium material and that faux center button. I can't remember where exactly I saw it (which was probably a month or so ago), someone had a prototype or concept of something like the Tinypod case that connects to the watch through Bluetooth with a working wheel and center button, playing around with accessibility options.

I’m still somewhat interested in this, but at the same time, why not just keep my watch strapped to my wrist and use it like a... watch?

Interesting. I hadn't seen any reviews of it. I was going to ordering, but there's a no return policy, so figured I'd wait to see some reviews, then haven't looked lately. Hoping someone took the plunge & can report back.
