Not only that, but the difference in picture quality YOY isn't impressive at all imo. I think that macro shots was the last big camera feature that really made an impact on pictures I take.
If people just bought phones once every 5+ years, the camera improvements would feel bigger.

We're quickly approaching physics limits, so they probably should add more lenses :)

I don’t think thats a bad idea, but this wireless triggering would only require the wireless trigger to be designed for it (it already is technically capable of it, already using that spectrum for other things, so maybe it wouldn't even need hardware changes) and for the software/api to be designed for it. So there would/should be no physical changes or even really a cost difference.

I wasn't suggesting a hotshoe, just for the existing wireless chip to have an additional mode. Everyone could benifit from that even if you don’t want all the extra stuff. Personally I’ve not found the camera control interface very useful 🤷‍♂️

I would like to see "both" happen honestly.

They could really lean in on making a super focused imaging experience device on the Pro side.

Learned today that Sony is apparently still doing smartphones 🤯 I remember when Sony Ericsson was the shiat
In another thread a while back I said Sony has everything they need to make Frankenstein's camera that is also your smartphone, instead of the other way around as we're doing now.

For me it was when Apple introduced the ProRAW format. That was huge step up when post-processing in Lightroom.

Simultaneous front and rear video recording sounds great for true 360° VR / spatial video (and vlogging), but the cameras would have to be of the same quality to make it worthwhile, imo. If not this year, then sometime in the future / eventually.

Just yesterday I remembered that my old Nokia Lumia had a camera button and that it didn't seem very innovative of Apple to add a button dedicated to the camera alone. Guess what my Lumia didn't have? TWO camera buttons! Now I feel like a fool for doubting Apple’s innovative ability.

Wait until next year!

"ProControl Triple Action" powered by "NeuralEngine 6" with "VaporCool Pro Max 2"

As for the video portion, I can always tell an iPhone video compared to a GoPro video. It’d be nice if it was less iPhone-y.

Or tomorrow's headline: "Slovenian film company released from all current and any future work with Apple"...

Not going to happen, don't be dramatic. Leaks are just a part of doing business, happens with nearly all Apple partners and suppliers.

Real optical zoom would be huge news. I‘ll believe it when I see it, though.

And no, it is definitely not „easy“. If it was easy, Sony wouldn‘t be the only one doing it.
I think it's more the danger of mechanical parts in a device that can and probably will be dropped.

I'm actually hoping the single lens camera in the Air is in fact a telephoto. Now that would be massive. It would require some engineering but they could pair the Tele with an ultra wide lens (to make it like 18-54mm or something) and a variable aperture.

The lens can apparently move, allowing for continuous optical zoom at various focal lengths.
So is this the reason for the width-spanning camera bump? Space for a moving lens element somewhere in the path of the periscope prism?

Edit: which also raises questions about the iPhone Air and its camera bump bar; does it have movable lenses to get more optical zoom range with just one camera?

So one rumour said 3.5x zoom and now 8x? Doesn't add up here
3.5x zoom + a 48MP sensor means they will market the crop of that zoom (3.5x x 2) as another zoom so 7x which depending on rounding could be similar to 8x.

This is actually the most believable part of the rumor.

But the other stuff is so out there (ANOTHER camera button?!) that I’m extremely skeptical of the whole thing.

If Apple was to make its own flash protocol/api, that had fast metering and compatibility with 3rd party apps, this would give them a huge edge over android and even some of the traditional camera market. I would upgrade for that feature alone.

I suspect the actual market for such a capability is very small and thus low on a priority list. I can see Apple improving th eon phone flash way before that.

The built in flash being millimetres from the lens is look that to me isn’t very pleasing. Off camera flash just makes such a huge difference to image quality, even if it’s held just above the camera. So for personal use it would be a dramatic change, but then it could scale to full studio set ups, meaning you could replace an inflexible traditional camera with a connected and simple and mobile phone.

How would it be useful to the personal user? They likely won't carry around a flash, let alone own one.

Given many photos I see could better benefit with some basic composition and use of natural light, a flash is way down on the must learn list.

Now, if the could turn the frame into a ring flash...

I would like them to split the lines and really dial the Pro line into this type of super camera focused stuff ...

So would I as long as they also keep it simple for the P&S crowd, the last thing I need is to have to teach family members how to use complicated setups when all they want is to take pictures.

Not going to happen, don't be dramatic. Leaks are just a part of doing business, happens with nearly all Apple partners and suppliers.

I suspect it could depend on how easy is it to replace them. Long term supplier deeply integrated into the supply chain? Probably not. Random studio in a market where many others would jump at Apple's business? Yea, I could see it.

Rightfully so if they can't keep their mouth shut.
Because of one bad apple. No need for MacRumors playing the Apple police.

Edit. And since macrumor‘s entire business is build on leaks (and news) I find it very strange they’d potentially harm their sources. What does this tell you about the character of the people behind this site?

Apple has started adding useless buttons starting with the action button on the 15 Pro, only because there's nearly nothing else new newer iPhones offer.
I use the action button almost daily where the mute toggle got used a few times in a few years. I also use the camera control button almost daily. Those two buttons were a great upgrade for me. For me, they are two of the most useful additions Apple has ever done with iPhones.

Edit: I don’t care about votes but I’m a little surprised at someone down-voting my comment about my experiences. Those literally are my experiences and disagreeing with them is odd. That’s like disagreeing with me stating that I have two eyes (I do) and find them useful. I said I find the action button and camera control useful. Someone might not find them useful but disagreeing doesn't change the utility I get from them.
