I have had mine now since launch (Sep 20th) and besides a few hairline scratches things have gone well. I use my watch everywhere, meaning I’m not super careful with it.

Welp... I did it, and then it was over.

After going back and forth, agonizing, I decided to trade my SS model for the Ti edition. And... a chip! Right out of the box. As soon as I took it in the sun, it was obvious, and after taking a microfiber and the corner of a post-it to it, I realized it was permanent. What bad luck. So I returned it. May try the Series 5 again when there are sales, or may go back to Garmin full-time.

Anyone want to buy my extra chargers 🤭

Oh man, that’s some bad luck!! Wow.

Didn’t know the charging puck is different lol.

Huh, wow. TIL that the aluminum watches come with a different charging puck. Apparently the aluminum watches have a plastic puck. All my SS watches (and the extra pucks I've bought from the Apple store) have metal backs. I genuinely had no idea.

Yea I think they are all the same.

How annoying it’s damaged right out of the box like that. (I can only think of one time that happened with me with an iPhone years back). In the end, I’m glad you didn’t settle for well, ‘I can look past that chip’. For an $800 smart watch, that’s not acceptable, and Apple would have wanted you to return it.

I received my Titanium watch (natural finish) over a week ago. I upgraded from a SS Series 4. I love the look of the Titanium and have been enjoying the lighter weight without downgrading to the aluminum model with glass screen.

After reading this thread I wanted to test the durability of the natural Titanium finish. In that time I used it in many conditions including moving a family member. During the move my watch sustained several significant scuffs that never would have happened with my SS S4. I was quite disappointed and was planning to return the watch this weekend.

Upon further research I found that this is a common problem with watches that have a natural Titanium finish and that there are products that can be purchased that remove these scratches. I purchased this pad on amazon that purported to refinish titanium watch surfaces (no affiliate link):

I received the pad today. I followed the instructions that came with the pad and I’m happy to report that I am keeping my watch. The scratches are completely gone and the watch looks good as new! So if anyone is on the fence about getting the natural titanium finish just budget for this over priced finishing pad and it will keep your watch looking brand new!

I hope this helps fellow titanium finish enthusiasts!

You could have exchanged it. Appears to me like you weren’t to keen on getting one in the first place.

Apparently the Aluminum watches have a different charger. You can see one in this YouTube video (@ 8:00):

As a AL buyer since S0, I can confirm that the charging pucks have always been white plastic.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the metal puck when I opened my natural Ti.

It’s just the outer edge that’s different though isn’t it? I can’t work out whether it’s an exciting addition or just a way of increasing the price? It’s just a charger to me that nobody ever sees.

The natural Ti with silver SS link bracelet is growing on me but I already have a SBSS with SB link bracelet ... and my return period is long gone.

Had the SpaceBlack Ti and Natural Ti Watch nearly 2 weeks now. The looking of the Natural Ti Watch was my favorite one, it was simply beautiful. But by my surprise it got some crazy scratches in this 2 weeks. I was really shocked how it looked after this 2 weeks and i use my watches always careful. I ended up keeping my SpaceBlack Ti now which i really like too & i replaced my Natural Ti Watch with the Ceramic Edition Watch + the Black Leather Loop.

That store doesn’t carry the Edition model (one close to home and one close to work in Chicago) so I couldn’t exchange it there. Even so, you’re accurate in that I was quite frustrated.

I did earlier, this is about as light as it will get in direct bright sunlight. Probably not for you if you are looking for pure matte black. I felt similarly but it’s really grown on me. Two pics below showing the color range based on lighting.

I have always had the SG aluminum since S0. It looks like the SBTi is lighter than that in direct sunlight. Is that true? I really like the look of it indoors. What model(s) did you have before getting this? Anything you miss?

I use mine all day and as a fitness tracker. I tend to like darker, less shinier items. The weight of the titanium feels perfect-nice balance between the other two models. My band choices would favor the SB look and less of the regular alu/Ti look. Any input or additional pictures is welcome. Thanks

So as an impulse buy (Which I tend to do only with Apple products😁), I was almost pulling the trigger on the natural titanium, simply because it’s a specific material that I have not owned yet aside from ceramic, aluminum and stainless models. But after seeing pictures of the titanium scratching and reading various posts, it’s a hard pass. I think it’s a really nice offering from Apple this year, but the space black titanium would be my secondary choice, if I had not owned the space black stainless.

Realistically, the natural titanium is the best looking between the two titanium watches, but in terms of susceptibility to scratches, I just can’t do it. DLC is the only way for me.

There's a way to polish out a natural Ti watch. Plus the scratches are inevitable so you might as well deal with it and enjoy the patina :)

So after much deliberation I have decided to purchase the natural Ti. It is certainly the best looking version of the finishes and when paired with the black sports and leather loops it just oozes stunning quality and appeal - I enjoy Omega watches and this version reminds me of a high end watch.

I had the SBTi but it looked very similar to the Alu and I just couldn’t get past that. The natural Ti doesn’t look like the grey Alu, the natural Ti is in a class of its own.

With Apple Care and the option to polish (as mentioned above) I think it’s a winner plus I’m super careful anyway.

I currently have the SBSS, while I really like the look and finish, the Natural Ti is best in class and offers a whole new AW look. The SBSS just feels to similar to my S3/4 SBSS as I’ve always gone this route.

Here are some photos that I love from peoples posts in this thread.
