I have a s3 space grey aluminum I use for sleep tracking and I personally don’t see how anyone could confuse it for the SBTi, about as likely as confusing one for any other Apple Watch from a distance other than maybe the ceramic white.

I could care less who wears an AL, VS, SS, Ti etc. I don't by an AW to impress anyone as I think they are not attractive. I bought it for function ability and the higher end model for extra durability.

Yeah, my problem with the Aluminum model isn't the case material. I hate that it’s not a sapphire screen.

I don't now if i added this: But here is the Titanium with the Hermes bands (Blue and brown leather)

My natural Ti didn’t scratch down to the metal, however it started accumulating a bunch of micro scratches on the coating. I love the look of it, but for that much money I can’t stand something having scratches that quickly.

To remedy this issue I bought a Ceramic hehe :)

I found a video on youtube where he uses a key against a Space Black Titanium: Video Link It makes a bunch of marks then he just rubs them off with his finger.

Another member used a knife on his space Space black Apple Watch, created marks and wipes them directly off. The DLC is nothing short of resilient.

I think the high price of these watches is the main reason people are so afraid of scratches. I have wore watches for over 60 yrs and they will all scratch if wore long enough.

Any they still work?!? /s

Hopefully going to pick up my Ti model today, if I can find the time.

They do- it’s called the Space Black Titanium.

DLC is always dark in color. There are similar processes but all of them significantly darken the base color.
I believe it’s darker due to being carbon based. I could be wrong though.

My older watches are about 30 yrs old and do still work. I don’t wear them since getting an Apple watch 4 yrs ago.

That’s my plan...

I've gone back and forth on this as well. I pre-ordered it and returned it without opening it due to all the panic here about scratching. Bought a Nike Series 5 recently and just would really prefer the look and materials of the TI over it. The sapphire glass would be a huge bonus. I already scratched my Nike on day one.

Actually scheduled a natural TI for pickup in an hour at which point I'll return the nike. I'm going to just keep it and enjoy it, scratches or no scratches. :)

Speaking my language. I have SS. It’s nice - but I’ve had it before. Titanium looks great and I’m hopeful it will wear nicely with a patina rather than (in my aluminum experience) a collection of ugly scuffs. Sapphire is a must for me.

Excellent point about the Aluminum. People are panicked over the TI scratching but no one brings up how relatively easy the aluminum models scratch. Sure the TI is more expensive but if you keep your watches awhile like I do it's worth it. For the 44mm GPS+Cellular the TI is $320. You can an extra sport band too so that helps. Plus now with AC payable monthly in USA, I could try to get it replaced if it get's bad enough. (I know they say scratches aren't covered).

Let me know if you pick it up!

Yeah, my problem with the Aluminum model isn't the case material. I hate that it’s not a sapphire screen.

The 7000 series aluminum on the Apple Watch is the same aluminum used on the iPhone 7 chassis and the iPhone 8 bands surrounding the glass. It’s extremely durable, but I completely agree it’s the Ion-Glass that’s garbage. As long as Apple continues to include sapphire on the more expensive models, then I’m sold for that material alone. (And no, I’m not using a cheap screen protector on an Apple Watch display.)

You’re definitely onto something. It also has to do with the fact that generally speaking, most here aren’t accustomed to paying these prices for a watch and do not understand that price has almost nothing to do with watch case durability.

Plenty of people use the aluminium watches without issue though it’s worth adding for context.
