Using my 4S on tmobile with the gevey unlock on 5.0.1 and jailbroken. 3G toggle is available but I don't remember if it always was there.

Btw.... This phone can browse the web quickly on edge, no video streaming obviously. I'm impressed. Even better if you use opera.

Can Tmobile iPhone users comment on how they deal with EDGE speeds? Do you just hunt for WiFi, or not surf, or deal with the slowness? How slow exactly is it? Is it unusable?

Love to hear some users chime in.

For most things edge is just fine... email, twitter etc. Anything graphic intensive is really slow. FB is a pain. Luckily I'm usually on wifi and what I can do on edge sees me through when I need it. I've been using an iPhone on TMO since the iPhone 3g. I'd prefer the 3g speeds, but I only pay $6 a month for my internet on TMO so it's worth the slowness to me.

Im from Canada and have a factory unlocked 4S and I go over to NY once or twice a month so I hooked up with T-Mobile and I do have the 3G Toggle when my T-Mobile SIM is in. I setup my plan with the $2/day Unlimited on EDGE. But I just switched it to the $3/day Unlimited with the 3G service.

Going to give it a try tomorrow when I go over and see if I get anything faster then Edge.

Good luck but you still won't get 3G with tmobile in NY.

Thanks! ;)

Question. I didn't change any of my carrier settings and my Talk/Txt & Data works fine. Is that not needed with a factory unlocked iPhone?

The only thing that actually does not work is Pic/Vid Msging.

Yes, usually most Settings should work right away.
But Many people have trouble getting mms to work with tmobile USA.
There were a few threads with carrier settings that need to be edited for mms to work. I'll see if I can dig that up for ya.

I am an iPhone user and i live in NYC, if you are planning on using an iPhone with T-Mobile, you will only receive EDGE, you will not get 3G unless you are using a factory unlocked iPhone.

what're you smoking? that's completlly false. Having an unlocked iphone doesn't affect what your carrier puts out..

----------

Whatre you guys talking about... Yes i have a 4 and a 4s factory unlocked on tmobile no jailbreak and I CAN TURN OFF 3G... What the hell are you guys smoking....

god u guys are all id*ots, the 3G Toggle is only available on iPhone 4S Running iOS 5.1, all other versions below 5.1 do not have the 3G Toggle, This was added in by Apple after people complaining so that those who wish to use 2G instead to get better battery life can do so. now please stop arguing about such something so stupid......

You have two options to get the 3G Toggle on your iPhone 4S:
1) Upgrade to iOS 5.1
2) Jailbreak and install some Tweak on Previous iOS versions

I have a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4S and a Rogers Wireless Locked one. So I think I would know better then most of you here that are speculating.

My Rogers one is running iOS 5.1 and has the 3G Toggle(It did not have it when it was running iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1
My Factory Unlocked one is running iOS 5.0.1 and it doesn't have the 3G Toggle.

T-Mobile DOES NOT SUPPORT 3G on ANY iPHONE VERSION REGARDLESS ITS LOCKED OR UNLOCKED, ONLY SOME PARTS OF SOUTH/SOUTH WESTERN/WESTERN UNITED STATES HAVE SPOTS WHERE T-MOBILE SINCE NOVEMBER HAS ENABLED 1900Mhz BAND!

The 3G TOGGLE IS AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE ON ALL iOS VERSIONS FOR iPHONE 3G,3GS and 4

btw: no reason for name calling since you are obviously wrong in your statement. and printing in red doesn't make you right.

you should have a 4G toggle.....its there on my Rogers iPhone 4S....I am running it on AT&T as we speak because I am in New Jersey....so I'm not sure why u don't have it but when I am in Canada and on Rogers it changes to 3G Toggle....and when I have my AT&T SIM inside it, it changes to 4G Toggle....oh and I am using Gevey Ultra S thats how Its on AT&T.....my other iPhone 4S is running on Straight Talk which is Factory Unlocked and is on 5.0.1 as I said and doesn't have the 3G or 4G Toggle but it will and Ill send you a screen shot the day the 5.1 jailbreak comes out that it has the 3G Toggle. You want picture of 4G Toggle on my Rogers Locked iPhone 4S running on AT&T w/ the 4G Toggle? let me know ill prove it.

As for you, 4G Toggle was added as a special request from AT&T to apple....n they delivered. Everyone has it maybe u need to restore your iPhone.

PS I am right and thats all there is to it. I have proven my point, obviously u haven't read around enough before u start slapping speculations and telling me I'm wrong. I did my homework maybe u should too.

PPS im not doing name calling, jus stupid people arguing about same thing but yet no one provided a well explained answer, all those one-liners are what makes these threads longer then they need to be

PPPS please prove me wrong and ill remove the RED COLOUR ok:)
