Picked up my iPhone 13 Pro Max yesterday at the Apple Store. As part of the trade-in promotion, Apple will be sending out promo code for submission to Tmobile to claim the $200/$500 bill credit. Any one know when are the emails suppose to be sent out? Anyone received the email with the promo code yet?

I just completed the trade in store instead of shipping it out just to make sure I get full credits. I’m waiting on this email too

Apple rep gave me the promo code 2021APPLERETAILTRADEP3 but it did not work and was told to follow up with T-Mobile since they can't provide additional support

I received the email from Apple. HOWEVER, the promotion code in Apple's email was wrong. I've pasted the information below, along with the CORRECTED promotion code (it is as posted above). The submission process worked for me using the 2021APPLERETAILTRADEP3 code.

Also note that I was told the promotion will not work if you ordered SIM-free/No carrier instead of the pre-activated T-Mobile or Sprint, even if you manually activated on Tmobile/Sprint. Not sure how accurate that is.

Congratulations on your new iPhone. Because you've authorized activation with T-Mobile/Sprint and you're using Apple Trade In for an iPhone X or newer, you may be eligible for the limited time T-Mobile/Sprint Special Trade-in Deal.

Here's what to do next:

  1. Trade in your eligible iPhone X or newer (in good condition) using the trade-in kit Apple will send you after your new iPhone ships, or take it to an Apple Store if you selected that option during checkout.
  2. Change your plan to Magenta MAX (existing Magenta MAX plans already qualify) within 30 days of receiving your new iPhone to qualify for the $500 credit. If you stay with another plan, you'll qualify for $200 in credit instead.
  3. Manage your T-Mobile plan >
    Manage your Sprint plan >
  4. Register for the offer at promotions.t-mobile.com within 30 days of activating your new iPhone. You'll need your T-Mobile/Sprint active phone number, the IMEI number of your new device, and promo code 2021APPLERETAILTRADEP3.

How does the trade-in credit work?

You'll receive two different trade-in credits — one from Apple and one from T‑Mobile/Sprint.

Apple trade-in credit

When you trade in with Apple, you'll get an estimated trade-in value. If you paid monthly, that value was applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you paid in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received.

T-Mobile/Sprint trade-in credit

Once you've confirmed your plan, completed your trade in, and submitted your promo code, your bill credit will be applied to your plan over 24 months. Bill credits will begin within two billing cycles.

If your trade-in has an issue:

If your trade-in doesn't match the condition described, or isn't an eligible device, you will no longer qualify for the T-Mobile/Sprint Special Trade-in Deal. However, Apple Trade In will provide a new value for your device. You'll have the option to either accept this revised value or reject it. We'll work with you to confirm that you still want to move forward with the trade in.

Got questions?

To check the status of your trade in or to chat with a specialist sign-in to your Apple account. You can also contact Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE.

For questions about the T-Mobile/Sprint Special Trade-in Deal or to check your offer status visit promotions.t-mobile.com. Call T-Mobile at 1-800-937-8997, Sprint at 1-888-211-4727, or dial #611 on your iPhone to be connected to the appropriate Care team.

Spoke to T-Mobile and said the code is 2021APPLERETAILTRADE3 (without the P near the end) titled 2021 APPLE RETAIL TRADE P3

Does anyone know if you can apply this promotion before your trade is processed? I picked up my phone at the apple store on friday, but I got locked into trade by mail, so I wasn’t able to trade in my old phone at the store. I‘m still waiting for my trade in kit to arrive, so I’m a bit hesitant about trying to apply this promo to my account before my trade has been processed.

It looks like you have 30 days after activation to apply it, so I’m kind of inclined to wait until after I send in my phone and it gets processed to try to apply this promo just to be on the safe side.

They must have fixed the system to jive with the email Apple sent.. Trying again today, it no longer accepts the code with the P, but it does accept without. When I submitted, it wouldnt accept without the P -- but mine submitted without issue.

Yes, you apply once you have your new phone -- not once your trade in is processed. They tell you when you submit that once they receive the documentation on the trade from Apple, they apply the credits.

"

If the promotion has any other steps for you to qualify (e.g. trade in a phone, add a line, activate an account), please complete them soon. We’ll be in touch once you’ve completed the steps."

Confirmed that that this is correct code... the same as what apple online chat supplied (after playing 20 questions). Note however that it must be entered 30 days from date of order. After I submitted, this is what the submission stated: "Promotion Date Range: 9/17/2021 - 10/14/2021". 9/17 is when I ordered the phone. (I did not receive the email either)

So this is sort of related and I’m hoping that someone has some advice here, since I’m new to T-Mobile. A month or two ago I came over to T-Mobile from AT&T using the carrier freedom promotion where I brought my 12 Pro Max from AT&T and T-Mobile gave me a $650 card to pay off the phone at AT&T.

I wanted to take advantage of this $500 credit offer, but I wasn’t sure if the carrier freedom deal would be a problem or not, so I called T-Mobile. I specifically asked if carrier freedom would prevent me from being able to take advantage of this offer or any other offers and I was told “absolutely not, you qualify for all of our offers” and the rep said that she even noted that information to my account.

So, I ordered the iPhone 13 Pro Max, traded in my iPhone 12 Pro Max and submitted the promotion at T-Mobile. I checked the status a little while ago and it says it was denied with the note “Carrier Freedom cannot be combined with this promotion”.

I spoke with T-Mobile again this morning and after an hour long phone call and speaking to several different reps they said that they would submit my case for escalation and I should hear back within 72 hours.

I’m not feeling super hopeful right now, but does anyone have any experience with T-Mobile and a situation like this? I wouldn’t be pushing so hard except for the fact that I called and specifically asked whether I would qualify for this promotion and I was told that I absolutely would. The rep even noted in my account the fact that she told me that I would qualify.

I’m debating on whether to do the trade in promo through Apple or with tmobile directly. It’s 1000 total either way. But Apple is doing 500 for my 11 pro max and then the 500 in bill credits, vs 427 through Tmobile and then 573 in bill credits.

I guess Apple might be better due to the higher up front credit, plus the phone is unlocked from the getgo?

Are the bill credits over 24 months either way as well?

One other advantage of doing the trade in with apple is that when you get the refund for your trade you also get a refund for the tax for that portion of the cost as well. So with T-Mobile you’ll pay tax on the full price of the phone, but with apple, after the trade you’ll only pay tax on the cost of the phone minus the $500 trade credit.

Ah I see. Actually I think tmobile does 30 months. Gotta double check.

Would it be better to physically go to the Apple store for the trade in? I’ve used phobio before but I’m hearing some horror stories lately........

I definitely heard horror stories about the trade-in process by mail, however, I mailed my 12 PM in last week and received the full credit ($790) within a few days. Not sure if state is the trigger, but I did NOT receive any additional credit for the tax. I had to pay tax for the full price of the new iPhone. I’m in CA.

If that's the case I'm wondering why nobody ever emailed me a code then? I had always assumed once the trade-in was completed I'd get an email with a code. I'll get started on the submission process tonight - thanks to those who provided the code, and for making this thread so I didn't have to! :)

That’s a good point, it probably is state dependent. And it doesn’t surprise me that California requires tax on the full price;)

I’m in florida and I did get tax back on my trade,

May I ask what the subject line of this email was? Don’t think I ever got anything like that.

The phone is still unlocked correct? Choosing the tmobile variant?

I did the trade in through apple for a Tmobile iPhone 13 and have not gotten the promo code email.

Can I just try using that promo code you guys mentioned earlier myself without getting the email?

I didn't get an email either, but the tmobile promo page accepted my submission.

I just submitted x2. Hoping for a smooth process but braced for some kind of drama along the way.
