When the iPhone Air was announced, there was a lot of noise — people nitpicking, comparing, even asking if Air buyers should feel embarrassed. From the single speaker to its design choices, the criticism came fast.

But here’s the thing: the Air isn’t a compromise. It’s a statement. It’s a beautifully engineered, premium iPhone built for people who value balance — performance, design, and comfort — not just specs on paper.

I was originally going to get the Air myself, but it turned out a bit too wide for how I use my phone day to day, so I went with the iPhone 17 Pro instead. Still, my respect for the Air hasn’t changed one bit.

To all the Air owners out there — ignore the noise. You made a solid, confident choice. You picked what fits your lifestyle, not what fits someone else’s opinion. That’s real tech maturity.

I may have gone Pro, but I’ll always be standing with the Air crew — because real innovation isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about knowing what works for you. 💪📱✨

Unfortunately same. Honestly, even the 17 Pro is a teensy bit too wide and thick for me. I'm okay with the 15 Pro but the 17 Pro is somewhat more difficult to use one-handed. I never realized until now just how much of a difference an extra 1.3mm width and 0.5mm thickness plus ~30g can make.

We have some older phones at home. The iPhone 12 & 13 aren't as usable as the 15 Pro for me but I'm more or less okay with them so here's hoping the 17 works.

I also ordered a magsafe loop grip for extra help. I might revisit the Air some time in the future to see if the loop grip will help with one handed use. I tried a PopSocket but it was kinda awkward to hold.

Coming from an iPhone 16 pro even though I have had the iPhone for like a day I feel it’s more comfortable to hold with the one hand.

Alas, the Air is intended to replace the iPhone SE3 so it's both heavier and much bigger. The SE3 is far easier to use one-handed. I'm annoyed that phones are going bigger and bigger. Alas, I can't keep using the SE3 forever.

Thanks. Ha. The iPhone Air is the Executive iPhone except unlike most "Executive" products it not only looks good it performs well. The A19 Pro, 12 GB of memory, 6 ½ inch OLED display, and 48 megapixel back camera combined with its weight and pocketability make it the best iPhone ever for most people.

A lot of what is comfortable/uncomfortable to someone comes down to hand size which doesn’t seem to be discussed much. I have long, thin fingers and can use my Air one-handed pretty comfortably but I can totally see why a lot of people can’t though.

I am annoyed too. My wish is that Samsung or google bring out a smaller phone like a special edition one and that will I am sure make apple bring out a new mini.

i second (and third) all of the comments above.
pocketability, beauty, etc.
and i also agee that, even for me, its is a bit too wide. but somehow the thinness makes up for that (for me) so the holdability is still great for me.

with the Air, apple broke the paradigm that "best = most featured". and its making it a difficult choice for people who needed that yardstick to know what to buy.
in the words of the apple product manager who said something like: "its good that people are struggling with the decision about which model to buy." she got that right!

choice is great.

Feels like a United Colors of Benetton moment.

People are critiquing the features in iPhone Air. Nobody I've seen is critiquing the owners. It's actually the other way around. Some Air users are asking why Pro users need long battery life or why they use speakers at all.

Jeez Louise guys
It’s a phone, not a new family member.

What are we doing here?

Something about iPhone Air owners is making them project what they perceive as vulnerabilities. Not sure why, but they seem to need self-assurance.

I've never seen this before. Plenty of forum posters critiqued the iPhone 8 Plus for being last gen compared to X. iPhone XR with its single camera and LCD. There were a lot of owners and none of them needed this level of self-care.

It is soooooo weird how this forum is making owning an iPhone Air out to be some kind of identity defining lifestyle choice.

It's just a cellphone, people. And one that you'll probably replace sooner than your favourite pair of jeans.

This is true. I've never seen this level of insecurity about owning a phone before!

*Edit to add*
And I should mention that I work with teenagers! As long as it has a camera and can run TikTok and SnapChat they hardly care at all what phone anyone is using.

I think you missed the part where OP explicitly stated not to be an iPhone Air owner. But don't let that spoil your projection.

No, I didn't miss that. It's the same group of people who accept the Air but feel like everyone is critiquing their choice.

"Respect" would be something like using a 10 year old iPhone today. Or completely foregoing the Apple ecosystem. Buying the latest $999 iPhone from Apple is respect? LOL.

In my opinion, respect is not tearing down anyone else's personal buying choice. And should someone ask for an honest opinion based on your own hands on use that last more than a few hours (or day), provide the feedback.

Is this what a cult looks like? WTH is this? Is it that hard to enjoy your shiny new phone without typing a thesis?

I guarantee you the hate is not towards the phone but to posts like this.

Not a cult — just a group of people who can appreciate their tech and a bit of mindfulness at the same time 😄
If that’s “typing a thesis,” I guess I’m just passionate about not letting a micro-scratch ruin someone’s day.

It’s a tad bit daft complimenting certain iPhone owners. As if they’re not knowing what they’re doing or just doing it to spite others.
