Stop it, I'm starting to get a little jealous :p

But seriously, enjoy your new computer, like I did when I bought this thing.

And to those who have a 2010 Pro,

Don't complain about it, you still have a kick*** computer that will serve you for years.
It's not like Apple released an update that bricked your mac; we all knew it was going to happen, that's the way technology rolls.
And I'm fine with that, everybody enjoy your macs!

I like it here in this thread, it`s nice place to be away from the insanity going on around me. ;)

OP, totally agree with your sentiments, enjoy your Macs people :)

Thanks OP,
Went out and got my first MBP today. Just went with the base 13" model. Should be plenty for my needs. Still like the speeds of the SSD's though so that will prob be a future upgrade.

This is the way greedy human beings work:

Before the announcement of these new macbook pros and thunderbolt technology, every apple macbook owner felt they own the bomb-diggity laptop and the price they paid for it was justified.

Then on Feb 24, 2011, all of a sudden that competent laptop no longer ceased to be good enough to use daily so everyone runs out and buys the new model.

Repeat this every time a new product is announced and everyone goes broke! If you stop for a moment and think about the people who can't afford a $500 plastic pc laptop let alone a new macbook feels? I'd kill for a 2010 model i5 macbook. I am still using a 2009 2.8Ghz and it's super decent!

I guess owning something "future proof" matters much more than actually maxxing out your current gear!

Happy with my 13" MBP. Plan on getting a MacBook Air as my next Macbook and using this thing for either my primary or back up.:apple::cool:

Thanks for one of the best _positive_ intelligent threads, I've read here in a long time.

I still like my Core 2 Duo MacBook as much as I did when I bought it.
I always did like the C2D processor, got a lot of great use out of one in a ThinkPad T series.

Enjoy the moment folks ... and me ... I am perfectly happy with my 2010 MBP
Me Too!

Due to the nature of my resource intensive work, I was thrilled to finally be able to get an i7 processor in my 15" 2010 MBP, with anti-glare, and hi-res. I increased it to 8GB and a 256GB SSD, now I'm set.

Cheers To All... :)

Thanks!!! Bought 15" i7 with a/g hd screen today... This is my first Mac and I can't wait for it to arrive. I will be tracking ups like "lion" after it's next meal to see when my mbp arrives.

I've been there my friend, I've been there :D And last time there was a disaster in China, which delayed our shipping time like hell!!!!

Have fun with your beast when it arrives! Now I'm still happy with my old 2010 model with 8GB and 256GB SSD and try not to think about the new hot chick at Apple Store ;)

After I waited since the last update for a better one , I think I'll finally get my first MBP (13'' base model), hopefully it will fulfill my needs (PS, FCP)...

Many members here don't want to admit it but they are all constantly looking for the latest and best, the one that will finally satisfy him or her. The problem is, the satisfaction is always fleeting because there is always a better model in the horizon. When a newer better gadgets comes out the cycle repeats all over again until they burn out. Lets just enjoy with what we have and upgrade only when it is absolutely necessary - it is less stressful and gives you more peace of mind.

Now I'm really jealous

That's a great machine!

If you talk specifically about "need" - most of the members here probably would not need an i5/i7 processor at all. I mean seriously, probably 90% of the people on this forum is idling or just surfing the internet coughcoughreadingandpostinginthisforumcoughcough!

I'm waiting for an iPad that can do web surfing as fast as my c2d 17" macbook pro.

Just ordered myself a 2.3ghz QUAD! 17 inches of beauty to arrive as early as Monday! Then I'll upgrade to 8 gigs of ram and a nice SSD.

So pumped! Finally ditching this old G5!

Happy refresh day everyone!!!

I'll upgrade next month... 1tb HDD, 8gb RAM and maybe an SSD on the optibay (just a small one for OS). I love my 15" i5, and it's in mint condition after 10 months of intense use.

I'm thinking optibay+32gb SSD for OS+apps
