was that one a notebook or another product?

It was a MacBook Air. However, I've just asked the girlfriend - who was with me at the time - it was £80 for student priced AppleCare, not sure where I got £40 from?! My mistake.

This was for the £999 13" Air - reduced to ~£849.

When you buy a retina MacBook you will get a retina screen - be it Samsung or LG. Apple is trying to ditch Samsung as a supplier, so screens are now coming from LG. There were problems with the original LG screens, but they are supposedly resolved now.

I haven't been keeping up to date with reports of ghosting recently as I've fully decided to wait until the 2nd gen to get the most out of my money.

Is the Samsung screen a retina? I heard there were issues with LG was it?

Retina screens are supplied by Samsung and LG. The LG ones suffered from burned in images, not sure about current batch, though some of the initial screens had really bad burn in. Search the forums and u will see the issue

It's not an offer. You get AppleCare for £80 as a student in the UK - at least, that's what I was offered last time I bought something.

Hey mate, you were right the first time (Although it's different for each Mac)

£48 for the 13" Air
£45.60 for the 27" iMac
£60 for the rMBP though, you were both exactly off :D

You get 3 years apple care (minus telephone support) for free as a student if you buy online, not instore. If you buy online then you're only paying extra for the phone support.
