To everyone complaining about slow data on the VZW Iphone

My first hand experience reveals otherwise. Take some time to learn the difference between GSM & CDMA. You'll find that Verizon will never contend with the faster AT&T network. It's just not going to happen. There's a huge difference between printed specs & real world functionality. For fast data it's AT&T hands down.

same thing during the first few weeks of AT&T's iphone 4 launch...... So give it a little time, and if your speeds don't improve in a few weeks, then complain

This didn't need a new thread.

But Verizon made it very clear to everyone ..... "We are ready!". So people have every right to complain.

+1 to everything quoted above.

Calm down, I have an iPhone 4 on AT&T, the first few weeks I had it and the 3G was unbearably slow. I understand verizon will have slower data, but it shouldn't be unusable data

Verizon doesn't have to contend with AT&T. They are better in every way except speed at the moment, but that is changing too. Verizon's LTE is already set to be faster than AT&T's LTE. Google it, you will see that Verizon bought the best LTE frequencies. Also, the entire big red Verizon Map will be 4G by 2013. As a matter of fact, Verizon 4G will be bigger than AT&T's 3G by the end of this year.

I will bet on Verizon.

Put you pom Poms down please. Do you really think Verizon 4G network is going to be bigger than Att 3G by the end of this year? LMAO.

Yes, look at that little a$$ 3g map of AT&T. Verizon 3G is like 10 times bigger. AT&T with edge covers 97% of Americans, but the 3G is very small. Verizon only has to light up 10% of it's network with 4G to be as big as AT&T 3G.

You want me to post a pic of the maps?

Just got 5.93Mbps download, 2.88Mbps upload, 112 ping up here in canada. Feels good man... although we definitely have our drawbacks here :(

Verizon's 3G data network SUCKED a year ago:

Dead freakin' last!

It has nothing to do with the iPhone. CDMA 3G is great for voice but sucks on data! End of story.

Had you actually read the entire article you posted, and looked at all the charts you would have noticed that Verizon was not last. In terms of speed they were second, with AT&T being first. Just an fyi, the names of the company in the smaller chart are in alphabetical order, not in the order of performance (based on speeds).

I get speeds of 1.5 to 1.8mbps on average. Not lightning fast, but hardly unusable. No change from what I got using the Droid. AT&T, however, IS unusable at any speed in New York.

It depends on where you live. It's as simple as that.

What good will that do to the current iphone 4 CDMA owners?
They'd need a new 4G device to acess those LTE speeds and hope to be in a place that has that available or they'd be paying extra for 4G speed and still getting slow CDMA 3G.

Where do you live?

Gemenon?
Pikon?
Caprica?
:D

I just think it's funny how these AT&T people are scoffing about Verizon speed. We already know the speed dummies and don't care because we can make phone calls too. I was pointing out that within 2 years Verizons huge 4G network will be bigger and faster than AT&T, so keep laughing about speed, Verizon folks will be laughing soon enough.

I don't mind slow data, but I do mind that I cannot make calls and surf web. That's stupid.
Agreed. Verizon people dismiss it easily by saying "I don't need it".

I would like to switch to Verizon but with no voice and data at the same time, it's no sale. You don't realize the benefits of the feature until you've actually had it.

Actually, I have had it with a company provided phone, and unless you specifically need it, its not that big of a deal. While I am sure it has its benefits, its not the end of the world and you folks need to realize that.

I don't think "we are ready" included increasing their data speeds. Anyway, each carrier has it's advantages/disadvantages, if you're unhappy with Verizon, leave.

It IS the "end of the world" for some users. The lack of voice and data I'm sure has robbed Verizon of a lot of customers.
