I'm not "hatin'", just incredulous at the amount of threads being created here wherein people who ostensibly have a pretty good head for technology are acting shocked and awed by the size of the phone and are planning on returning it. It seems like the Plus was the most sought after and biggest seller amongst the new iPhone models; it's hard to swallow that predictions that most would end up being returned are coming true.

By the way, I got up at 2am CDT to pre-order my phones; they were ordered at 2:36. It's not as if I didn't put in the effort to get mine, but the system was clogged with people who were pre-ordering iPhones that they would apparently be returning the day after they received them.

Yes, alright, that sounds harshly bitter. It's not really your fault; it's hard to read the complaints about something I personally feel like you should have been better prepared for.

You are why the rest of the world can't stand apple people.

OP, I would focus on the benefits of the 6 Plus - larger display, larger battery, optical image stabilization, etc. Since you appear to be a business professional, the 6 Plus is better suited towards enterprise. The larger display lends itself to productivity. The 6 Plus is also a rare bird at the moment so I would consider yourself lucky to currently own one.

People keep saying "larger display, ois, battery" etc as if those aren't the only three things that distinguish it. They might be big things to some people but it's not like they're the first in a long line of features the 6 doesn't have. That's literally it, that's all there is. IMO the plus is too light on features to justify the jump in size, or to properly utilize it. I'm holding off for when the Plus is better.

OP is 'lucky to currently own' whatever he wants and what works for him. It's not his problem if other people couldn't get one yet. The Plus is a great phone but so is the 6. The idea that bigger is more premium tells me that if apple had put out a phone bigger than 5.5 then people would be saying the 5.5 is too small. In this case bigger is just another option, one that won't work for everyone and that's okay. Making him feel like an ingrate or something is hilarious.

What people seem to forget is that 4.7" is also a very big phone. The HTC One m7 had this screen size, but was just bigger overall. I think you gain very little with 5.5", as it is harder to operate while still being super small compared to even iPad mini. It can never replace iPad mini for me as the difference between a small tablet and 5.5" is huge in terms om productivity and experience.

Obviously people are allowed to change their minds and without having the specific phone in their hands, you just don't know.

I was handling my 6 and I almost dropped it because I was holding the bottom and the top part almost flipped out of my hand. I know my preferences so I know the 6 was the best option for me. I'm amazed at all the people on this forum who have acted like the 6+ is the greatest phone ever for the past 2 weeks and then act surprised when people ordered the 6+ and realized it wasn't for them. Maybe influence of this forum on boasting the 6+ led people to question their initial desires to order the 6, then they realized that the 6+ really isn't them.

Well, it's done!

Best Buy came through! They had like 30+ phones in stock probably and when I got there, I was 3rd in line (still look like 30 minutes since it's a slow ass process for people in front) but the line got about 15 deep by the time I left.

Worked out better than expected...went with 64GB Verizon phones instead of AT&T since the Verizon come GSM unlocked so can be used for international travel and have more value at resale (wife got one too, didn't like the Gold version she originally got from AT&T).

Then, used my AMEX so theres an additional year of warranty, don't need to buy AppleCare+ anymore (I know it doesn't cover accidental damage like cracked screens, but it's actually cheaper to do a screen replacement through the Apple store than to do it through AppleCare+) plus got 1600 mileage points on the AMEX. And then, since I'm a Best Buy ElitePlus member, I get about $40 in Best Buy dollars. Oh yea, and sold my 6+ for $850 on Craigslist. Pretty much winning all around.

This is quite nice too! :D

Personally I would have used that wonderful 5.5" screen for what it's made for and gave that hand a workout with some adult friendly 1080p entertainment so your hand wouldn't cramp up.

Love the 6 Plus for everything but actually trying to use it. Holding a drink while trying to reply to texts is an absolute chore (hey Apple, if you don't apply reachability to the quick reply option, it's kind of useless on that big phone). Got a lot of use out of it last night at the ballgame, but it made me realize how difficult it truly is to use one-handed.

So I swapped it for a 6 today at the Apple Store. I'll miss that big, beautiful screen, battery, and OIS. But at least I can use my phone without having to put down a drink or whatever I happen to also be holding.

No don't keep it. Give it to someone who actually needs it. And yes that one is me, of course

Where did you originally purchase your plus? Online? Or at store?

No problem exchanging? What was the process? Refund you the difference in price?

I've been going back and forth on my Plus, but I will give it a few more days. But I've really enjoyed seeing this:

Big improvement from my i5.

Preordered from Apple.com.

Exchange was very easy. They essentially refunded my order in full, and then charged me for the new phone. The carrier contract renewal discount for the phone reset immediately, so I got it for the good price. They were even nice enough to not make me wait in the long iPhone 6 line. I really do love Apple's customer service.

reachability seems like an after thought. What would've made more since was Apple changing the dock so that App icons wouldn't all line up to top left. On my galaxy I notice that I and most people I know with androids, use the top of the screen for widgets and put more most used icons near the bottom of the screen so they're easier to reach.

I picked up the 6 128gb on friday because the 6+ 64gb wasn't supposed to get here for another month. I was going to cancel it, now I find the 6+ will be here today. I find it too big now that I've tried it in the store.. But battery life on the 6 is not really better than my 5S, which was my main reason for going for the 6+. So I'm a littler torn. 6 seems right. 6+ seems less usable on the go. Though I use bluetooth 80% of the time.

The plus isn't for everyone, and while I love mine, I tell most people who ask to go for the standard 6. Unless you have really big hands, the plus is going to take some adapting. Many aren't willing to trade one handed operation for the bigger screen. That's fine. That's why they offer two sizes.

Enjoy your 6!

Yeah I'm sitting here thinking...this thing is REALLY great for home use, like an iPad mini...but that's not what it should be, at least not for me. I do a lot of business on my cell phone, calling clients and such all day, a lot of time from the car and I need to be able to use it one handed, it's a must. Today while driving it was practically impossible, took a bit of concentration and like I mentioned earlier, some things cannot even be done unless you use two hands.

You may be able to sell the 6+ before the hype dies down and have enough to buy a 6 and an iPad Mini.

If they can trim the 6+ physical size down in the future, I may be onboard in the future.

But even then I'd probably be more into a 5" screen on a body about the physical size of the current iPhone 6

I'm now staring at both the 6 and 6+ on my desk. And in all practicality, the 6+ is just not where its at. But its so pretty.. I don't want to send it back.
