well i have no idea

I'm pretty sure it's from what I thought was a failed pre-order on AT&T's web site. Apparently it went through, even though I got an error at the end and no email confirmation was sent. I tried to order a couple more times after that, but that's when I immediately got cancellation emails saying I'd ordered too many phones. Now I believe those cancellations were due to my first order actually going through.

I got the same email, around the time I was doing iOS4 upgrade. I had trouble with backups so I did a fresh install and got a message "our iPhone has been activated" on the phone.

I was pretty sure the fresh install triggered the email until I saw this thread. Did y'all get the email without any software install or syncing?

I synched my iPhone, but neither of us installed iOS 4 because I want to sell our current phones and give the buyer the option to upgrade or jailbreak/unlock.
