No matter what product Apple launched the comment sections get salty lol. It’s funny all the people bashing Jobs would be the same ones saying how modern products wouldn’t exist it be better had he lived

What a great product Thinking back those were the days of the Sony Walkman how popular that was who ever thought the iPod would become a hit Ás soon as iTunes came around the iPod really took off
It was the beginning of great things to come

iTunes came with the iPod. It was tailored to sync specifically with it.

Isn’t one an analog dial, no different than a flat stereo knob and one a touch interface?
Like comparing a analog dial to a touch slider isn’t it?

We can draw conclusion with any products. You use your pointer finger to scroll through your roll-a-dex and you use your pointer finger to scroll your mouse wheel for files.
Apple just copied the roll-a-dex later on. ??‍♂️
The original dust gen's wheel actually rotated. The 2nd Feb gen, that looked the same had a touch sensitive wheel

Apple should have never discontinued the iPods. They still sold millions per year so why just cancel something that people liked? I don't want an iPod Touch, I like my Classic.

According to Tim Cook the classic iPod got discontinued because they could no longer source the parts for it. Plus, probably relatively weak sales and a business that wants to focus on streaming in the long run.

20 years on, are the accounts with the negative comments still around? ;)

As I didnt have anything Apple 20 years ago, I was stuck on the other side of portable MP3 players (Creative Jukebox).
The ability to carry "quite a lot" of music around was clear then it was worthwhile.
The player was the size of a diskman player and the software and interface was awful.
The iPod made so much sense.
The whole illegal MP3 grey area is all such a distant memory too these days...

I remember clearly the huge negative press about iPads (the name!!!) and who would want one?
Be interesting to see what they think (and use!) now ;)

I bet Apple could release an iPad classic (per NES Classic) and bank on the nostalgia. Count me in ?

If I didn't jump in on the Iphone game with the 5S, I probably would have bought an Ipod Touch.

The Ipod was such a great product. I jumped in with the Ipod Nano, and I almost wish I had joined the Ipod clan earlier. It changed how I listen to music and just radio in general.

Wow, how time flies indeed! I think I got my first iPod around 2001 or 2002. It was a FireWire 5GB iPod.

Do y'all remember along with iPod we also had iTools which I think later became .Mac and then later iCloud -- something like that.

That website design really brings back memories, used to love that subtle pinstripe motif that they used back then and the way Macs drew fonts was just soo much better than what you saw on windows. I didn't get an iPod until 2005 but I've still got it and it runs when it's charged, even if I did a pretty crap job of replacing the battery to the point that it doesn't close properly anymore.
[...]

Oh yeah, I still remember that design of the website. How website design have really evolved! I still remember back in college days when the internet for the public was still quite new. Things have really changed....

They could have at least kept the iPod Nano. They were selling millions a year when they discontinued it
