A bit further in now. Still loving the game. I think they did a really good job. I do kind of wish there was a stealth/no-kill run you could do of the game but that's not possible based on the content I've cleared. I have seen some alternate routes after finishing content that would let you bypass areas more stealthy than I did the first time though.

Here are some non-spoiler screenshots. I don't have the TressFX hair turned on because I didn't care for it.

Thanks for the screens. Is this on Steam for Mac? What resolution are you running there? Looks good.

Steam for Windows. I game too much to have a Mac. It'd just be Bootcamped into Windows all the time. 1920x1080.

What settings are you using?

I disabled the hair rendering too, I heard it could cut framerate by 20% and I managed to jump up a couple of resolution levels and still get 60fps.

Settings are Ultimate without TressFX or tesselation (was causing random crashing). I did turn TressFX back on a bit ago, not too much FPS hit but I may turn it back off.

Are you on AMD or Nividia GPU matey ? Just wondering if there is more of an overhead on nvidia hardware seeing as though this is an ATI/AMD thing.

My copy only just shipped and now I'm wishing I just purchased it off steam :(

I've got an ATi 6970 2gb (2010/2011 iMac, I forget which!). It's pretty shocking how much it slows down, some people are saying it's a 20% performance cut. I switched mine off and it let me push the resolution to 1920x1080 for an average 60fps.

Yeah I'm finding a lot of DX11 features still cripple otherwise excellent hardware. Crysis 2 on Ultra on my MacPro works at DX9 1920x1080p at 50-60fps. Run same game with DX10/11 and it clambers down to around 15-20fps, and I have to reduce setting to high/very high for reasonable performance.

I have a feeling I won't be experiencing tressFX myself.....

Got a couple hours in last night (XBox360) and really liking it so far. Hard to kill those chickens though. :D

Graphics look pretty good... not as nice as SP's PC though.

9 hours in on Normal and it says I have 63% completion so far. I have all the collectibles up to where I'm at which I assume the percentage includes along with all weapon unlocks that I have available to me.

Question is, how much does it have in common with the old games? I haven't read any reviews on it yet, but from what little I've seen and heard, it looks good...

...but not very Tomb Raidery.

I'm guessing you've played the originals, so how would you say it compares to Tomb Raider 1 and Underworld? Those are my two favorites in the series.

I have played the prior ones but it's been forever. The "tombs" are fairly lame. But you get the same jumping puzzle goodness from the outdoor environments that you would get from the tombs. There are probably less pure puzzles, although the side tombs consist solely of a puzzle each, so maybe they moved the puzzles to side quests for people that don't care for them. I guess I don't really compare it to the prior Tomb Raiders. I like this game and I liked the prior ones. That doesn't mean they are similar... I also like Super Mario Bros 3. :p

I would agree this pretty much sums it up. It is kind of like they took the tombs outside into the forest. Much of the same jumping and grabbing type activity.

I played all the previous versions and like this one, but like SP said... not a lot of tombs (so far anyway) and fewer puzzles.

The main benefit of having outdoor jumping is the camera isn't as much of an issue. I think most of the Tomb Raiders have had camera issues because of this and so far, this one hasn't.

Finished! 16 hours played and that's with 100% collectibles, weapons upgrades, etc. Really good game overall.

For you completionists... it does tell you when you won't be able to fast travel anymore, near the end at the point of no return. Also once you beat the game it will let you load your game and get collectibles also.

Any guesses on how well the PC version would run on a 2011 Mac mini Server (Boot Camp)?

Specs:
Mac Mini Server - Mid 2011
Proc: 2GHz intel Core i7
Mem: 8GB 1600MHz DDR3
Gfx: Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
HD: 2x 500GB SATA 7200RPM

You finished the game already? Holy crap. Did you need to get hints and help or did you do it on your own? I'm thinking of buying an old ps3 or xbox just for this game (and the upcoming GTA). Is it that good?

No hints and what-not. It's fairly straightforward. Worth buying a PS3/360 over? Not really. Maybe if you want some other games too. If you do get a PS3, look into Playstation+. It's $50 a year and you get a ton of free games to boot.

I'll look into that. I traded in a bunch of games and wound up getting a refurb PS3 and TR. Do all "adult" games look this good? LOL. I think I've spend too many years playing wii stuff that I can't believe this game. Its like playing a movie. Even my wife said when I started it, are you playing right now or is this the intro?
