The reason is that I already own the iPad 2 version for my other iPad and although I thought it added a bit too much weight at first, it really gives me confidence to pick up the iPad and not worry about damaging it. My 4rd old daughter now has it and I feel pretty comfortable with her using it in this case (she knows to be careful with it though).
I like the way they have improved it for the new iPad (they've put an elastic strap so you can keep it secure when fully folded back). Also the rounded edges feel very nice in your hand, and the material they use is very easy to grip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Qpqmg4nfkc
There is a hand strap on the back when fully folded round, but I found it wasn't very comfortable to hold the iPad for long due to the weight and the slightly awkward angle you have to hold your hand at. So instead I use that strap to hold my screen cloth, if it's a thin one you can slip it under there and still close the cover as usual. I always need a cloth wherever I take the iPad.
They should be releasing the 4 new styles (colours) any time now. The fibre glass style one is very nice but I already have that style on the iPad 2 so want something different for the 3.
I've ordered an STM Grip for my mum's one http://www.radtech.us/Products/stm-grip-ipad-case-with-stand.aspx and if that arrives before they release the new coloured Marware I'll take a serious look at it as an alternative.
