Took 5 weeks to Ship MBP !!??

is this because of the Fglossy screen?

I like the glossy screen in MacBooks, but in MBPs it's just meh.

I have heard some people trying to buy MBPs with glossy screen @ Apple Stores (in Canada) and they say "it could take a week" to get some at the store.

No it isn't because of the glossy screen. I ordered a matte one on June 5th and it still hasn't shipped.

Wow, I'm shocked to hear this!! I placed my order on June 7 as well, for a 15" MBP base model with a matte screen. I also got an iPod, an 80gig video. It was a graduation present that I wanted to get by my graduation the following Saturday. It shipped on Monday, June 11 and arrived that Thursday. Just about as fast as I could possibly hope for. The iPod shipped the next day, June 8 (orders ship separately so if the case was out of stock the computer would still have shipped) and arrived on Monday or Tuesday (since I'm in CA). I also got the education discount and the "free" ipod (or $200 off any more expensive ipod). I couldn't have asked for faster service, I don't understand why it took so long for you to get yours, that's ridiculous and I'd be really angry.

so is this becoming a common occurrence or just a freak happening? i ordered my MBP custom config on July 9, and my ship by date is July 18-23.. i thought that it was slightly odd, but after reading this i'm just hoping that i get it by august..

I have the exact shipping date as you. I didn't configure mine though... are you in Canada? Its supposed to be delivered July 20-30.
And I need to do a major project and have it finished by at least August fifth! I'm praying it gets here on time!

Ordered a MBP with glossy screen on July 10 with expedited shipping. Supposed to ship by Jul 19-24 and deliver by Jul 23-31.

Like my siggie says i ordered a standard 2.2 except for a glossy screen. It was ordered on June 17 and i was told it shipped on the 5th of July. Still waiting.....hopefully this monday will cease my pain. This might be due to not ordering straight from Apple but from my campus store.

No, I'm in the US, Northwest Arkansas to be precise.. My delivered by date is also quite similar to yours, July 20-27..

Hopefully it'll get here soon though, I was really wanting to mess around with it a bit before classes started back up, but who knows..
