1) People who call themselves "geeks" because they know MS Office.

2) People who think Windows is the only opperating system.

3) People who make crap up to make very easy things sound way more complex and important than they really are when speaking to people who know nothing about technology.

1. Microsoft Word! How could any piece of software that bad become the office industry standard?

2. Windows... users. If there's one thing worse than Windows itself, it's the people that use it.

3. Scanners. ...And I thought copy machines were bad!

-Myspace

-People using my computer without asking, especially if they go on myspace.

-People who have a myspace or facebook and think they are a "web designer" or "have a website" or think it's "cool" to have music playing in the background of pages. Or think it's "cool" to have pictures and colors that don't go together all jammed together...

1. Web services that only support Windows.
2. People who ask me "Whatcha doin?" while I'm working on the computer.
3. People who try to change system settings, install apps, etc. without asking.

1. People who touch my screen with their fingers and/or fingernails!
2. My little cousin who ALWAYS tries to go on my powerbook while eating various greasy foods with her hands.
3. People who stand behind me and watch me while I'm on my powerbook.

1) Touching/poking/proding LCD displays because people think you can.
2) When your high speed internet dies on you.
3) Flash based websites that never seem to display correctly.

1. People who think the only browser is internet explorer
2. People who don't know what a mac is
3. That god damn Hp PSC 2355

1. People claiming to know how to use a computer when they can't.

Seconded.

2. Non-technical people trying to be technical, but diseminating incorrect information. Something everyone is guilty of occationally.
3. Mac/Windows haters with nothing legitimate to back either argument up.

1) People closing the window and assuming they quit the application too. (This leads to dozens of applications running all the time. Sometimes I wish Mac OS X weren't so good at multitasking, so that the computer would crash and teach them a lesson for doing this.)
2) Messy Applications folder. (This is not the Windows "All Programs" button...organisation is key! Now, if only Dictionary.app would work properly while nestled away in a subdirectory of Applications...)
3) People getting crumbs and dirt all over my precious PowerBook. (Actually, just disrespect for my PowerBook in general will get under my skin. Treat it well or lose your privileges.)

Eating food by my keyboard and getting crumbs stuck. (Spent 3 hours disassembling and cleaning keyboard recently. Twas gross)

Fingers on the screen

"Is that a Mac?" No ***** genious!

Yeah, I hate it when...

pets pee on my computer too

Of wait, you said 'pet peeve'. Sorry my mistake.

1. Batteries that go from '50%' to '0%' before you can blink (sure, better than exploding!)

2. My company using Windows when their is a perfectly good OS out there that actually works

3. Pets peeng on my computer

1. Windows.
2. People who own a computer and have for years yet need to call me for help sending an email, while getting all uptight if you question their knowledge. (such as my father)
3. People who write MAC on forums when talking about Macs rather than MAC Addresses.
4. Battery monitors that are never right. 50% with two hours remaining...down to 20% five minutes later.
5. Printers. I can fix any computer problem, except a printer problem.
6. "Macs suck."

SECONDED!

1. People that touch my computer without asking first then mess something up and act all freaking dumb about it.

2. People who have owned a computer for at least two years and still calling me asking me how to empty the trash bin.

3. Dumb arse roommate always looking over me when I'm on the computer asking me stupid arse questions about icepops.

No, it goes like this:

Is that a mac? No **** sherlock.

1. People who think they are computer literate because the use 'leet speak'
2. People who think Command Prompt is used solely for hacking.
3. When someone has a problem with their computer they say its either a hacker or a virus.
4. Myspace
5. People who think their iPods are made by 'mac'
6. People who use computer terms completely out of context; "Omg internet explorer crashed", "It might be the powersupply".

1. Windows users
2. Windows users
3. Windows users

I'm fairly indifferent to Windows, that's just a s***ty piece of software, but people stupid enough to use it in the first place (1), and then don't bother to learn it and feel they have to ask me, a long time Mac user, for help (2), and even get p***ed off when I suggest that a Mac might be a better option for them and their computer use (3) really gets my blood boiling.

real peeves!

Hello everyone,

So far I've read a lot of complaints about dumb users, I thought this thread would be about real peeves, stuff that you admitedly overreact to...

here are mine:

- people double-clicking on hyperlinks
- quoting too many of other people's posts when replying to a mailing list
- emails that don't begin with a greeting

Now you all know how to irritate me :)

Shouldn't that be thirded, because he kinda seconded mine?

;)

Why do people hate Windows users? Sure, some are stupid, but some Mac users are stupid too... Some people have to use Windows.

Yes, this one drives me batty too. A "web consultant" did this very thing when I was working with her to re-design some mining company's website . :)

Thanks for posting!
