The Apple Watch functions just fine as it is right now, with a cellular plan I’m able to text & make phone calls perfectly fine without carrying my iPhone. If you’re referring to the Satellite functionality rumored for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 we won’t know its features until Apple announces it next month. Apple has never advertised any of its current watches as having Satellite connectivity, so I’m confused as to why you say they don’t function as advertised… 🤷
Thank you, I was taken aback by that members comments. Absolutely wild. Cellular watches absolutely work as intended without a phone nearby. I wonder if that person even paid for the cellular plan…

Blood pressure monitoring? Laughable. Measuring BP on an arm with one of the little machines is already complex and difficult enough, I can only imagine how accurate the AWU gestimation work will be. No, thanks. Blood pressure is too important to make it a gadget feature same with blood glucose. Bring back Blood oxygen measurement and give us decent wellness functions for sleep, recovery etc.

There are so many incorrect things in your posts here, it’s disappointing. If you had that experience there was an issue with your watch or your service. It is wildly inappropriate and unfair to tell people who are u familiar that a connected cellular Apple Watch doesn’t work unless the phone is nearby. Never had such an experience, and it’s just incorrect. Once again, sounds like you had a particular problem, and you should describe it as such, not as a universal truth or a description of the products design.
It’s literally been my experience with multiple Apple Watch Ultras. Maybe there’s a bug, but it’s effected me on two watches and like three phones

Unfortunately not really. The main thing it can do without a watch is make phonicalls on its own. But unfortunately it won't receive every call/text that would go to your phone.
Have the same issue. My watch gets notifications with a 5 minute delay on LTE when phone is not around or not at all in buildings where my phone has still some reception. Reception on a watch is just subpar. Cellular connectivity adds no real value in my opinion and is for sure not worth 10 bucks on a 140 dollar plan that I have.

I agree, unfortunately I still pay for it, because I’ve had times where I lost my phone, and needed to be able to at the least make calls

I’m hoping we’re hit with a few new shock and awe features. Fingers crossed. I’m ready to replace my non cellular AW with an ultra 2 or 3.

How many times are going to post this article?

Two more and we can start a post “The top five articles about the top five features of the new Apple Watch?”

I find the 5G rumor strange, surely 4G is fast ebough for FaceTime calls, streaming music and downloading podcasts? I just thought the most power efficient chips were the ones of older technologies and that 4G chips are more power efficient. And the Apple Watch is all about power efficiency.
Perhaps Apple is choosing a new chip that will be a little bit faster but also save energy, thereby extending the battery life of their watches. 🤔

Who is your service provider? I don’t have that issue with my Apple Watchs.

So, is there any point in having a cellular plan for the watch?
I use mine daily. When I walk I stream music, I take calls, and I reply to messages. (If I feel like it) Mostly, I stream music. I get Teams updates, HomeKit notifications, etc. I'm not sure it's worth it for everyone but I do use mine. Looking at the end of the month with all of that activity, I have barely used any data.

Perhaps there wasn’t enough hits! 🙄

Why a faster and more efficient CPU ends up feeling exactly the same as previous years?.
No longer battery duration.
How about more efficient, same speed, longer battery logic?.

I had on many occasions that I lost connectivity when my phone was not nearby and I am on a cellular plan. And guess what... There are other bugs. For instance I am stuck with a home key on my watch which can't be removed or replaced for some reason.

Apple has two major issues for me: battery life and watch form factor. I get it that some folks like square watches. I like round watches. And I like 2 weeks or more on a battery with my Fenix 8.

Apple Watches are ugly and tasteless but useful for sure. Been wearing one for many years despite its awful design. Let’s hope for improved battery life in the new watch.
May I ask why would you not get a Garmin fenix instead?

Same here. I waited a few years before realizing Apple will probably never make a round watch, and I really dislike square watches. Then, my wife purchased an Apple Watch and I saw how dismal the battery life was. I couldn't handle worrying so much about having to keep it charged. So, I went with Garmin, starting with the Instinct and just recently getting a 51mm Fenix 8, which I love. Also, for my interests, I like the flexibility and features of the Fenix more, and of course, the great battery life.

Ultra 3 should get a very small increase in screen size matching Series 10 with LTPO3 and seconds hand support. Newer chip will be there for sure. Don't know whether there will be any new health features.
