Wow, surprising to see I'm still in the Top 25 - up until Steve's death (RIP) I hadn't posted here for a few years! Good to see both old and new faces on the site, that helps keep things interesting. :) I'll try to pop back on MacRumors from time to time, cheers for now...

Hey! Haven't seen you around in a looooong while:)

simsaladimbamba posts GG's virus post several times a day.

While I probably post several times a day, I only posted the Malware FAQ 13 times in the last month, and only 47 times in the last six months. Sorry to disappoint you. ;)

Even the "How to maximise your MacRumors troubleshooting experience" link you dreaded, has only been posted by me 32 times in the last six months and eight times in the past month, but a lot more before that, but once you reminded me of how you didn't like it, I cut back from my maximising addiction.

But the most posted, pre-formatted, message is probably the link to the "Helpful Information for Any Mac User", which I linked to 44 times in the last month and 191 times in the past six months.

Anyway, maybe this statistic I put together using the Advanced Forum Search might shed some light on my posting statistics.
And btw, I have made 9,255 posts since I registered (excluding this one), and 9,126 of them do not contain any link to the Malware FAQ.
And 1,875 posts of mine, containing pre-formatted text bodies I used at least a hundred times since 2010, are made of the Activity Monitor guide, Battery FAQ, disk space scanning software link, Mac OS X Basics, Malware FAQ, Maximise your Experience, MRoogle link, RAM upgrade guide and TM FAQ. That is 19.5 % of my posts, which is much, but not that much as you make it out with your above post.

Anyway, Doctor Q, your current avatar is the best one yet since I came to MR. How did you create it?

Interesting. I'd be curious to see the distribution of all active posters across post count. You could do this with equal sized bins and with bins based on forum title requirements.
You mean something like this?:

17 members joined while I was creating this.

I see tension between the Old Guard and the Young Turks. Kids these days...

I am still comfortably out of the running for this list, which suits me fine. I don't want to be outed for my internet time-wasting. :D

Here's an oft times missed statistic. Top Ten Wireless posters from the mobile site.

I must be about 11 or 12 at 557 wireless posts...

Hey! Haven't seen you around in a looooong while:)

Well then- start posting more!

Now that I've dipped my toe in the MR waters again I must say a part of me does miss it - I will do my best to be less of a stranger here going forward. That being said, my postwhore/spamtard days (i.e. the mad jew era) are definitely a thing of the past! ;)

You're only posting again now that I'm catching you up – don't think I'm not on to you! ;)

Apparently you can't fool a fellow Gallifreyan... ;)

him and GGJ just shot up the rankings.....one always replying about iphone hacks, and the other about batteries and search links lol

I myself have been here 6.5 years. Dang

Don't forget the knee-jerk "Macs do NOT get viruses."

You can both say that again.

Of the 9 threads with the word "virus" in their titles, I replied to six in the last months, of those six, only five had something to do with Mac OS X.
In those five I posted the Malware/Virus FAQ you all so dread.
As I posted the Malware/Virus FAQ 13 times, and GGJstudios 37 times, so let's just say the term "virus" has come up 50 times this month (regardless of it being in the thread title, and presuming GGJstudios and me have caught them all this month) without proper knowledge, what a virus actually is.
That would be 600 posts per year.

Anyway, since I don't know how to search for "bump" or "LOL" only posts or any other simple minded ones, I leave it at that.

But I do need antivirus software for my Mac right? I hear there are quite a few viruses out there now.
I recommend Sophos and Norton and McAfee, and be absolutely sure to install all three of them and that they run at the same time. That way, you are safe from using the computer.
