Here we go again with my analysis of the MacRumors Top 50 Posters.

Previous "Top 50 Posters Extrapolated" threads were July 2003, January 2004, July 2004, and January 2005.

The legend of column headings follows the chart. Comments and further explanations follow in the next post.

Measurements were taken yesterday. I've computed these numbers just for fun and to be a point of discussion. Members should not post just to achieve a high post count. Pointless posts (spam) are against forum rules.

What do you do all day mkrishnan? ;)

Mind you, I moved up 12 spaces myself, so I shouldn't talk too much...

Anyway, I just want to be the first to extend a big thank you out to Doctor Q for compiling and processing all this information. I love statistics like this, and it's really neat to see how things have changed since the last report. So thanks Doctor Q!

Edit: Okay, so I'm not the first to say thanks after all - man this thread got busy in a hurry!

In keeping with tradition, I'll work on extrapolations for 6 months and "infinity" next. But first it's Independence Day party time!

Exactly, don't knock yourself out Doctor Q! Get out there, party it up, and worry about all the number-crunching another day!

Not really... I just was slowed down considerably by my job change.
I'm able to spend more time here now, but I just don't have as much to say as some of you do.

I wish I had as much time on my hands as you Dr Q

We are very lucky that we have Doctor Q on staff. A person that enjoys crunching numbers. With respect to the amount of time, as with anything else with experience it gets easier and can be done faster. He already has a lot setup from previous extrapolations.

Thank you Doctor Q for you generosity in this venture. ;) Chances are it has become a labor of love.

Ok, I only need to post 100x more to catch Mr. Anderson. How do you have 5,000 topics to discuss or comment on? WOW!

Thanks for the stats Doctor Q!

And tell me, Mr. Anderson, what good are 5,000 topics if you are unable to type? *makes agent face and makes your fingers disappear* :D

Yes, yes, kudos to Dr. Q. These analysis threads are always really interesting. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to put them together.

And naturally, if MR wasn't such a fun place, we wouldn't be posting so much here! :)

Well, I guess I should thank my ex for this rise, and the great support of many of the MR members here for support during a troubling time in my life.

In the end it was the sense of fellowship that I feel here, that as soon as contributions were again accepted - I became a Demi-God. It was my small way of repaying everyone for their Mac and personal support. This is the first time I ever gave money to a "free" site.

BTW - updates:

Chewey is doing well in his new home. He goes to work every day with is new family. I assume that since they run a catering company that Chewey is gaining way too much weight. :) I know that Maribella, my cat, has been eating like a pig since we got in to the new place. Add to that she has turned in to a kitten at the age of 12+ years - with just her and me to keep company with.

I went to settlement on my TH on Thursday. And things are coming along slowly in unpacking three bedrooms in to one bedroom. Thanks to my sister, I will be heading off to SFO for 4 1/2 days (first class air thanks to her AA air miles) for my birthday weekend.

At work, my boss commented on the renewed "energy" that I have at the job. I guess I never saw the wear and tear of the relationship taking its toll on work.

My sister is still trying to deal with the break-in of her house and theft of less than one year old GMC XUV. The rottie that we picked up from the shelter on the day of the break-in is adjusting well to his new "Mom". He has provided much comfort and protection when things go bump in the night.

(Sorry, I must end - otherwise I will try to get all of us to sing "We Are Family" :D )

I think it's interesting how much I've slowed down recently. 1 year ago, I was a newbie to the top 50, entering at #42 with 2,148 posts and a rate of 6.75 per day. Projected to be at #31 in 6 months time (1/05), and #11 at the End of Time (maybe I'll meet Gaspar :D).
6 months ago, I was at #34, a gain of 8, with 2,965 posts, and a rate of 4.44 per day over the preceding 6 months. Projected to be at #33 in 6 months time (now), with 3,774 posts. End of Time rank: 14th, with an overall rate of 5.91 ppd.
And now: back to good ol' #42, thanks to a 6 month rate of 1.5 ppd, owing to my temporarily b0rked PB (was wonky from mid-march to mid-june). Using a slooooow iMac (333MHz :() really cut down my computer use overall. As for predicted positions, we'll just have to see ;)
