Care to make it the Top 51 Posters next time?!... ;) :p

Just make 3 extra posts in the year - I'm sure that counts as number one! ;)

Fascinating stuff as ever, Doctor Q. I watched these posts come round each six months and quietly wondered at some of the post numbers. I'm not sure whether I'm flattered or alarmed to find myself in the projected list now.

My posting rate has been lower than usual this month because the forums, in general, have been rather quiet. I know it'll pick up again when things get going. I did not expect to end up in the top 20 posters that early, though.

Great stats again, it will be very interesting to see how these projections line up with the actual gathered numbers in 6 months time. As ~Shard~ stated, a lot can change in a half year, but whatever happens the numbers will be quite fun to compare.

Thanks again to Doctor Q for compiling all this, I always enjoy looking down a nice stat-sheet :)

Some of those stats are unbelievable. Maya's only been around since October? BlueVelvet has only been around for a year? Incredible. (I manage a staggering .43 posts a day, but I sure do read a lot.) This is a great board.

Always great to see the statistics for the RL-less :D :p

If RL wasn't so damn boring and uneventful I would spend more time there :p (of course spending less time here could prove to make RL more eventful....oh well), but just because people post doesn't mean they don't have "real" lives....does it?

Regardless of the answers to that, I like being a faker online, it proves to be more fun

DR Q: Thank you for keeping this up!

It's interesting (to me) that this all started when I basically stopped posting, yet I have remained in the top 50 for 2 years!

I got really busy with my thesis film which left no time for posting, and now I'm about to move to LA and need to find a new job... which forces me to spend time on that rather than post. Maybe one day I'll have a crappy job with a net connection and I'll rejoin the ranks...

If anyone would like to see why my posting rate has dropped so much since July 2003 may I direct you yo a previous thread, which has the link here

If you like the film, please give me a vote. I put a lot of work, time, and money into it so I hope some of you like it!

You know, if you have to ask... :p :D

I know, I know. That was the joy/horror in asking

I prefer my RL-less life, not really but I'll tell you that.
I wonder how long it will take me to meet with the top RL-less members in the top 50, or perhaps someday the top 25 !

Wow i feel proud of myself when I can post 5 times a day  . Thanks for the interesting stats Dr. Q... Someday I will be on there (mabey)

Well I've managed to drag myself into the top 100 through a slow steady accumulation of posts. My average is under 2 a day (although it's way up today).

Interesting stuff. I never thought I'd make the Top 50 posters - and, perhaps, I never will, since we're making some assumptions here. I guess I'll look forward to the next gimmick thread. ;)

Yep, thanks Doctor Q!

Was surprised at how I surpassed expectations. I chalk it up to the support that I have been able to find here on MR.

Too lazy to look if mentioned before, but how many of the top 50 are paying contributers to MR?

That would be a good stat to see - that, and how many contributors there are in general, especially now that contributing has been re-activated. I bet you Doctor Q could whip that up in a flash! :)

16 paid contributors, 8 moderators, 1 site owner (arn), and 25 noncontributors.

According to my calculations, those 50 members made 72.25% of the posts over the last six months (in the forums that contribute to post count).

How about the percentage of posts made by contributors, regardless of where they rank in the Top 100 countdown? although, given that this feature was not on for the full 6 months just passed, maybe this will need to wait until January...

So I'm in a 27.75% minority...??? I wouldn't have guessed that... ;)
