Yes, the precious nuggets I deposit here really ought to be worth more. ;)

They're worth their weight in coffee grinds though! ☕

Since I need more posts to get into the top 11, what the frell is this?

I can even right click on it and look it up in the dictionary which brings me to Drinks. Is that one of those emojiiis?

Who, us!?

Take over!?

You mean all of us!?

And just to show that we always end up on topic (as we are all Rule abiding members!)...I only need about 150 posts to hit the 8,000 threshold for inclusion in Dr. Q's consideration.

(What a save!)

Maybe I could search your post history for some frivolous posts and remove them for you, so you could work harder for that goal!

Shrink: My radar extends down to about 6000 posts now, so I noted your post count 6 months ago (6,367) and now (7,778), so I'll be ready with a history when you make the charts. There's a good chance that by the end of the year you'll be among the top 100 posters.

My charts don't cover that many, but it's still an achievement of note. The total number of MacRumors members as of today is 899,225, and the total number who have ever registered (including those whose accounts were later deleted) tops 900,000.

Who just missed the lists?

Sometimes there are "photo finishes" that determine who made the Top 50 and who did not.

Current Top 50

There was no photo finish in this category.

The member closest to the Top 50 who did not make the Top 50 was bousozoku, who was 337 posts short of retaining his Top 50 presence. He was in the Top 10 in 2005 and 2008, then retired from MacRumors and gradually lost position. This is the first time he's been off the Top 50 list since I've been keeping track.

Two members would have made the Top 50 with 3 to 4 more posts/day over the last 6 months. yg17, who has been among the Top 50 in the past, needed 580 more posts. AidenShaw, who has been just below #50 several times, needed 703 more posts.

6-Month Projected Top 50

Sun Baked missed the list by 70 posts, the number needed to pull ahead of dejo for the 50th slot. That's equivalent to one post every 2.6 days.

End-of-Time Top 50

Nermal, who made just shy of 300 posts in the last 6 months, missed the End-of-Time Top 50 by a mere 0.1852 posts/day, the number needed to edge out Sky Blue. That's equivalent to one post every 5.4 days.

A long way to go, then, for some of us…….in both time yet to pass and posts to be written.

Well, such is life…….

Philosophically, however, I must ask myself whether this sort of recognition is what one pursues in this life…..

And yes, the question is somewhat rhetorical.

My advice to those who want to become top forum posters: Don't spend an entire day composing a single post, as I do with the Top Posters threads! :)

True, but also think before you post as well. Otherwise we end up with lots of posts that are just repetition of previous posts and threads. For example;

Should I buy now or wait?

My screen looks more yellow than my friends

Oh and lots of posts about coffee that seem very strange. You just open a jar and stick a teaspoon in and add water. Milk and sugar to taste. What else is there to say about it....:D

Ah, well. But some of us like to craft and compose……..a little post in English prose….

Despite the sentiment expressed in the quote "brevity is the soul of wit"….I prefer to read something that is well written and thoughtfully put together…..

And, sometimes, just sometimes, I actually do find such a thing here...

Re the repetitive posts, ("should I buy now or wait"? "when is the next update due"? along with many others along similar lines….) well, I think you may be on to something…..

And as for coffee………well, it is clear that you are long overdue an initiation into the knowledge and learning which can be found within our august ranks…..

There's nothing wrong with new folks coming here and posting their questions seeking help or advice. They seem to be, and are, repetitious for many of us who frequent the forums daily and have been for years. But, every member is entitled to ask their questions, even if we've seen them before.

Now coffee is a very important topic and must be discussed, at length, for there is never a shortage of things to comment on regarding this very great bean. ☕ Now, time for a double-shot!

I'll have a cup of tea thanks or an instant. It's all the same right?

This is true, by coming on here everyday we will see more repetition than the occasional poster. Although I wish some new members would use the search function a little more.

Not using search is just human nature, people, want to have their issue heard and addressed. Just look at the plethora of, should I buy a laptop now threads occurring in the laptop forums. Could they have searched, sure, but to them, its an important question and they feel their needs may be more unique, and to a degree I'm sure it is.

I don't mind answer them as best I can, but it does a little repetitive
