    Blushes modestly and becomingly.

Reminds self that this is still a long way off, and that anything can happen (and probably will).

There you are good sir. You're one of the few that remember I used to hand those out.

I was going to post a picture of the Highbury, but there's always so many empty seats I thought you might take it as an insult :p

When it was Highbury, (that beautiful Art Deco stadium), it was usually quite full.

Now, The Emirates, on the other hand, well, yes, that may be another and entirely different matter, especially towards the latter end of last season.

Having said that, some of those fans didn't exactly cover themselves in glory; yes, it was time for Mr Wenger to depart, but one could have encouraged this to take place gracefully and with gratitude, in a dignified and courteous manner.

    Always loved Waldorf and Statler.

Actually, by nature, I am sufficiently grumpy and enough of a curmudgeon to perform at my best in front of such a demanding yet prestigious audience.

Lately, I've been revising the procedures used to produce these semi-annual stats. A lot of the 03 July stats were done with a ramshackle collection of scripted and manual Terminal commands, and I'd like to streamline the process by making it more automated.

Testing the automation scripts means running them, and I ran a data collection pass on 03 Oct. This happens to be the mid-point between 03 July 2018 and 03 Jan 2019, so I figured I might as well post some new interstitial stats. Because who doesn't like interstitial stats?

This post has Table 1 (Current Top 50) and Table 4 (Active Top 50), while a subsequent post has projected data: Table 2 (Projected Top 50) and Table MJ (Can mad jew be stopped?).

    Table Columns:
    • Rank = Position in order by post count, 1 (highest) to 50 (lowest).
    • A = * for currently active users (at least 1 post in this measurement period).
    • Current Top 50 = members with the 50 currently highest post counts.
    • Cur Posts = # of posts by that member.
    • Cur Rate = average # posts per day by that member over the last 3 months.
    • Delta Rate = change in average daily post rate from the prior semi-annual period to the latest 3-month period.
    • Prev Rank = previous rank, as of 3 months ago (July 2018), or "---" for those who are new to the Top 50.
    • Delta Rank = change in rank, i.e., # of slots +higher or -lower in rank since prior semi-annual stats.
    • 3-Mo Likes = number of likes received in this measurement period.
    • Followers = current number of forum followers (some data may be incorrect).
    • Avg of one post every = average time between member's posts, in days, hours, and minutes, based on a 24-hour day. .
    Note:
Posts in any of the following forums are not counted in either post totals or post rates.

    Remarks
    1. Once again, there were no changes in membership for the Top 10.

    2. @C DM and @GGJstudios swapped places.

    3. @Scepticalscribe moved up 2 positions, passing @mad jew in the process. She also has the highest post rate in the Top 500 (not a typo) for the 3-month interval.

    4. @Relentless Power remains relentless. In the last stats, he was the only member with an average post rate faster than one post per hour. He now shares that attribute with the even relentlesser @Scepticalscribe.

    5. @Newtons Apple had the largest change of rank: +15.

    6. Among the middle range of posters, @MacDawg and @eyoungren are in the midst of a "zone of stasis" occupied by several inactive members with similar total post counts. If this were an adventure movie, there'd be a vine dangling from a nearby tree to help them escape the quicksand. Tune in early next year, to see if our dauntless heroes escape this dastardly domain!!!

    Table Columns:
    • Proj Rank = Projected position in order by post count, 1 (highest) to 50.
    • A = * for currently active users (at least 1 post over the last interval).
    • Projection 2019-01-03 (Y-M-D) = members with the 50 highest projected post counts based on current post count and rate for the last 3 months.
    • Proj Posts = projected # of posts by that member.
    • Cur Rank = current rank, as of Oct 2018 (see Table #1 above), or a rank above 50 for those who are not in the current Top 50.
    • Delta Rank = projected change in rank, i.e., # of slots +higher or -lower in rank over the next interval.

    Remarks
    1. @Scepticalscribe is projected to surpass both @Doctor Q and @GoCubsGo. Since this is based on a linear projection, and I suspect she will actually have a lower post rate over the next 3 months (because she posted about going abroad), my gut feeling is that this won't happen. Now that I've broken the 4th wall, let's see what actually transpires.

    2. @Rogifan should make a big jump in rank, as he moves past a group with similar post counts and little change in position.

    3. @The Game 161 and @OllyW are projected to enter the Top 50.

    4. Two of the more recent members of the Top 50, @Relentless Power and @Apple fanboy, will continue to be in a close race for 13th and 14th.

Table MJ: Can mad jew be Stopped?

This is a historical benchmark achievement, measured against the once-prolific @mad jew.

In July's semi-annual stats, @Scepticalscribe was predicted to surpass @mad jew on 2018-Aug-05. She actually accomplished this on 21-July-2018, as noted in post #77 of this thread.

Date When Top 50 Members Will Surpass mad jew's 32,194 Posts

Having the process more and more automated is going to be very helpful from now on.

I'm glad to see that my average time between posts is the mathematically pleasing 12 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds. I'll have to make sure to post exactly twice a day forever so I don't spoil it.

I have no plans to go anywhere. :D

Currently my objective is 20k. That puts me within striking range of being on the "Members" page and I'm a little more than 250 posts away from that at this time.

    https://forums.macrumors.com/members/

Since they don't tell you when 'Core' switches to 'Penryn' I've been observing some of the other posters and it looks like that happens somewhere around 24k posts.

Still got some ground to eat though. :)

That isn't too far off, really. Perhaps I should engage more in the community like I had in the past to make the next 5 years go by quicker.

Fascinating reading, @chown33, and wonderful work; well done and much appreciated.

And yes, being abroad does indeed have an effect on one's active post rate, this is very true.

This is now a quarterly thing? Thanks for putting this fascinating read together.

I’m not sure time will move quicker? Perhaps @Doctor Q could chime in to clarify with some clever mathematics to show time is not relative, but he might already have used up his two posts today! :D

MR actually send you a T-shirt when you make Penryn. I’m wearing mine now!

I think they should send everyone a new Mac when you pass @mad jew! Especially as that’s apparently less than a year away for me!

Well, if I increase my altitude far enough above the MacRumors servers, time will, though imperceptible to humans, move differently. My time will have slowed down while the servers time below me will move faster than me, thank you gravity. Or I could travel close to the speed of light and then return to Earth and that would accomplish my goal that much quicker, at least for me anyhow. It's all relative to the observer. ;)

One of our virtual servers decided time was relative today! We lost reporting for 8 hours!

I hadn't expected that a quarterly projection would also take place, but fascinating that it is.

I have been at home (I finished a period abroad at the end of June) since early July, so an obvious explanation for my enhanced post rate is readily to hand.

The only real problem I can foresee right now would be that if I want to continue my post rate, I'd have to calculate the timings of the posts differently. For if I am moving close to the speed of light, my posting habits would have to be spaced out just right. I'd have to post in quick succession, thus posting faster than anyone else and would in turn have to start new threads in order to achieve my post goal at that light-speed. But then my topics would have to be made up and would appear to come from the future to those still on earth. Not to mention I'd have to get a waiver for posting too many times in a minute which would otherwise block me.

Then there is the Internet connection from deep space back to the MacRumors servers.... that would slow my posting back down to almost nothing. Given that at the speed of light, the distance of the Voyager spacecraft, on the outer edge of interstellar space, radio signals take about 17 hours to reach Earth.

My eyes are starting to cross and I need to do more calculations... :p

I thought that women posted as often as men, but I guess I'm wrong because Scepticalscribe just said that being a broad affects your active post rate!

Ha ha. Lame joke, I know. And now I've used up my 2 posts for today. I have 12 hours to make up the next lame joke.
