Wonder how much of an influence carrier discounts potentially had on overall sales?

Not that I understand much about these things but I’ve noticed a few more offers here in the UK (incl. new models) compared to previous years.
Carrier subsidies have largely disappeared.

Not that many persons are financially literate enough to understand cost of money and cash flow.

I would not be surprised that many here would buy their iPhone outright by one time credit card or cash payment.

When I see iPhones being bought using credit card installment I cringe by how big the interest rates are when there are better alternatives out there.

Then I look at carrier iPhone plans that split $1199 iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB price over a 24, 36 or even 48 month period so the monthly amortization cost is $49.96, $33.31 & $24.98 respectively + text/calls/data cost + tax.

When Apple is successful with their 5G modem I expect many carriers to start offering MBA & MBP plans. This would make Macs more attractive to buy for those who want to pay them over a 2, 3 or 4 year period.

If a $1199 MBA 13" M3 with Apple 5G modem came out tomorrow on a 4Y carrier plan I'd push our organization to refleet our Windows PCs to MBAs that would cost us $24.98/month + 5G data + tax.

I bought in just before the spit in 2014. has performed well for me. up 400% on my 200 shares.
The post split number of shares for 4,000 from Jan 2009 would be 112,000 today.

With over $20.4m that's good retirement money for anyone in their mid 40s.

I do not believe the companies research because it is not statically possible when it is a matter of fact that Android mobile phones have approximately 70% of the mobile phone market. This means consumers are buying way way more Android phones than Apple but yet we are expected to believe that with the merge market share that Apple has that they hold the top 7 slots of the global mobile phone market!!!, sorry, not possible because if it was possible, Apple's market share would be way way more than what it is but it isn't.

if you add up all the market share numbers shown; the iphones only add up to about 15%
Android just happens to have a lot of models; so the other 85% is heavily divided.

So if they are the same why not pay extra and get the newer model with longer support.

Also the 14 has Dynamic Island. Action mode. Photonic Engine. Extra ram. Extra gpu. Better battery life.

I bought a cheap refurb 13 (non-pro) in 2023 and I've been super happy with it. Battery life is amazing and still shows 100% health after nearly a year of use. Much better than the battery in the 12 Pro! I will upgrade eventually to get USB-C, though.

The 2018 article you linked to focused on the enterprise market but major carriers still commonly offer subsidies/incentives (discounts, inflated trade values, etc.) in the consumer market typically spread over 24 to 36 months.
Finally! Someone read my links!

Not surprising to see iPhone taking up all the top spots. Surprised that not a single Samsung flagship is in the top 10.

The thing I can't get over is that the normal 14 is literally just the 13 but with autofocus on the selfie camera and satellite features. No other new features. And people pay extra to buy it 😭
Well The traå you might have fallen into (this being macrumors it's quite easy) is cpåaring the 15 with the 14, most people (including me) will nt upgrade there phone every year now (due to a combination of price and the fact that smartphones hac matured and thus there is less yearly development) so the better question to as is probably how much of a change was there between the Iphone 15 and whatever model was released 3-5 years before, because this is more the normal replacment frequency. allso was there some important iso feature that left a slew of 3-5 year old phones behind and moderated people to possibly get a new phone a bit earlier. We might also have seen a bump from the drowes that probably upgraded to have something new to play with during the first major pandemic lockdowns around the world ( you know the ones that thought: well the vacation I've save up for is out so I might get me some new tech)

It's wild to me that the most popular Android smartphones on this list are all budget models. I would have expected to see at least one flagship, or even a mid-ranger. 😮
Yeah I wonder why people are not buying any of Samsung’s flagship phones in any numbers? I prefer the iPhone but the Samsung flagships are good phones.

These are sales. Android users could be going far longer without updating which might be why we see more iPhone sales but more android users overall.

I don't believe it. I don't know anyone that has an iPhone, except one person and me.
Doubt they be selling iPhones in most African countries etc.
