what makes you think that? you think all other phones just ring and ring in other countries?Outside of America, nobody even knows what voicemail is or why it would exist.

Thank you! I mean, it is a beta, so this kind of behavior is more than acceptable!I've got it installed on my i14PM and haven't noticed any 'terrible' events; in fact I'd go so far as to say that it's been quite the smooth transition. Battery life is as it was in iOS 16, wifi and calls take place as normal, camera works just fine. If I had to comment on anything unusual, it would be that I've noticed a couple of apps that I've opened which have closed themselves at some point through using the app, but re-opening them provided a stable as expected use.
"Avoid highways" may help, but it's a lottery.I want to be able to select among several "scenic routes" in maps.
Sometimes I am not interested in getting someplace quickly.
Yes! It's a sad thing — the ringing never stops, although it does die down a bit between 4 and 6 in the morning...what makes you think that? you think all other phones just ring and ring in other countries?
Woah. That would be incredibly annoying.Yes! It's a sad thing — the ringing never stops, although it does die down a bit between 4 and 6 in the morning...
I was kidding, obviously, but not a lot of countries rely on voicemail. In fact, how much do people in the U.S. really leave voicemails? Businesses, doctor's offices — yes, but personally, I don't remember the last time I left/received a voicemail that wasn't business related.Woah. That would be incredibly annoying.
I get it that known contacts can and probably would text you but if it's some sort of, say, legitimate business call but not a contact, they just have to keep trying back (or text you which seems a bit awkward and might not make it through a set filter as an unknown)?
Whoops that went right over my head! Still I'm not wrapping my mind around the alternative.I was kidding, obviously, but not a lot of countries rely on voicemail. Well, what's a bit annoying is that if you have spotty service and the caller doesn't leave you a voicemail — you've no idea that anyone called you. In Russia, for instance, you get a text message letting you know that a certain number called you while you didn't have service. This way even if they didn't leave a voicemail — you know they were trying to reach you. I think a feature like that would eliminate the need for 99% of voicemails. Luckily all my work calls happen on Teams, so very rarely does anyone call my phone.Whoops that went right over my head! Still I'm not wrapping my mind around the alternative.
Yeah that's my point about business calls. I get a lot of calls for work (when working remote), from contractors (house stuff) etc. Even then though, not a lot of voicemails in my life...even AT work, where it's 99% email.
Piqued my interest as well, it’s called Nomad Stand One. I plan to get it for that Standby/home hub featureAt the 1:50 mark, what is the full name of that iPone Stand ? Thanks.
Keyboard updates - Autocorrect is using a new machine learning model that can better predict what you want to say. You can more quickly complete words just by tapping the space bar, and in some cases, fill entire sentences. When a word is corrected, it's now underlined, and you can tap it to revert back to the original word you typed if autocorrect makes a mistake.
You’re joking ? Right ?Outside of America, nobody even knows what voicemail is or why it would exist.

Apple has to do something to attempt to pry our iPhone 11’s out of our cold dead hands. I consider the 11 like the 4s and the first SE. if Apple had the brains to order the parts for a million more of each of those phones, and used the quantity discount to cut the price by $100 on day one, their market share would be double what it is today.Improved autocorrect only for iPhone 12 and newer. Because if you don’t have the latest and greatest you deserve to be tortured by a broken autocorrect mechanism.
I suspect you were downvoted because the feature you were complaining about is one of the noteworthy changed in iOS 17. Apple has implemented a completely new autocorrect system that uses a transformer AI (the kind of predictive text that is as the heart of ChatGPT). It has the potential to be the kind of autocorrect that we already expected but never got.I really want to hear from someone like myself who turned autocorrect off because it’s just offensively bad. Just looking at the stupid suggestions it has while I type this is making me shake my head. Things no one would ever type, yet it fights me so hard every time I want to type I’ll which I do frequently.
So, is autocomplete still a complete disaster or does it actually work now?
Edit: hilarious that people would actually downvote this. I didn’t know there were autocorrect apologists out there. Even Craig Federighi openly admitted that it is bad.
This is an entirely new autocorrect using a language model / transformer style AI that is nothing like Siri. Perhaps next year they will use something like this in Siri to improve it's text handling.I really wish Apple would allow RESIZING THE KEYBOARD!!!! That would be the best improvement yet - iPhone is the only phone that prohibits this even with a third part keyboard.
If the "improved" auto correct is anything like Siri's improved voice recognition.... I'm afraid. (It was far worse and she can't use commas or grammar correctly.). The voice-rec demoed greatly last year - was super excited for it - and then I used it....
