I was taking about components in general, not specifically just about battery. And components which are required to be removed in order to replace the battery, are glued in place. I've also provided repair video in my last post as the source of my claims.

Read my post again. It's okay to admit you don't read posts you reply to.
You mean your post about batteries.

You mean your post about batteries.
About battery replacement and related EU mandate - to be more precise. And such debate includes also the way how you can replace the batteries, the battery covers, the way they are being held in place etc.

Again, where in my post you see I was talking specifically about battery being glued in? I was taking about components (back cover, display etc.) in general

But yep, it's usually easier to just sandwich components together with a glue than add some screws or other bonding stuff which would not compromise design.
Also, pull tabs are nothing but glue which is supposed to be more easily removable, so anyway...

After staring at the WonderLust graphic for a while here is what I see: two stubby legs, a pony tail on top, the backside of a person on the top R and a ghostly toy shoved into its rear end (depicted in the area where the bite of the apple starts)… I had to stare at the animated image for a while, and now I can’t unsee it! WonderLusty indeed… 😉

The graphic is a Rorschach test. 😜

I've removed an iPhone battery and a 2014 MBP battery; the iPhone's pull tabs are significantly easier to remove. Nothing 'supposed' about it...not even close. I think the MacBooks now use the pull tabs as well which is great for everyone who wants to replace their battery.

Yes. But that would be against Tim “don’t rock the boat” Cook’s apparent strategy with the iPhone.

But I agree completely. Please just give us one year of catching up to the basic features that Android has had for a decade. Just for one year skip crap like contact cards with bigger pictures and actually improve the core functionality.
This guy gets it. I want a phone that makes my life and my business easier, more convenient and faster. Why can’t I have automation/shortcuts that automate changes to system level settings (ie VPN)? Why can’t I do simple things like upload videos to YouTube directly inside the Photos app? Why is apple so averse to making my life easier?

AFAIK the iPhone batteries are already considered user replaceable by that EU law. They’re not glued and the device can be opened and closed without breaking anything. It didn’t mean that they need to be like LEGOs and be replaceable just pulling one piece and sticking another.

If anything that law would make Apple to sell iPhone batteries and I think is something they already do with the repair program.
User serviceable my +***^**
The iPhone 14PM and its battery would like a word.

10 steps into the process and the phone isn’t even open.
Ifixit says it takes 1-2 hours for the whole process. It would take much shorter for someone who does this all day. But they are not “ USERS” they are technicians.

I see very little reason to upgrade from my 13 pro max. I guess I’ll wait until the 16 or perhaps look at a google pixel fold 2 when available.

Given what we already know, and that I just got a new phone, this is going to be a huge snooze as far as I’m concerned. It also doesn’t help that I have zero interest in Apple Watch.

I’m keeping my eyes open for an Oct/Nov. event or announcement for M3 Macs.
I sold my v2 apple watch just before v3 came out and put back on my tried and true battery-less Seiko auto-relay quartz movement auto wind watch. It's been reliable, doesn't need a wrist wiggle to turn the face on and keeps immaculate quartz time.

It’s hilarious how apple is treating the move to usb C as a feature. If it wasn’t for the EU, they never would have moved to this standard.
There is a reason why Apple isn't using lightning on their computers and other devices besides the phone. Unless you know of a lightning 2 in the works, how do you know for sure they're not ok with moving over to usb-C now.
