Desmay case seems to be the most popular at this time ... i am looking for a little more protection though, that case wont really offer any protection from a small drop .. just will prevent scratches ... i am still looking at the switcheasy vulcan case but am worried about flash back issue with the case and the no back border around camera cutout

Am I the only one who thinks the Desmay is ugly? it looks like a black condom when placed on the iPhone. The Incase Snap is very very very thin, has a matte coating to prevent it from being slippery, and looks stunning.

iToNe24 - your challenge will be defining your needs and recognizing that you will sacrifice drop protection for thinness.

My goal was to find the slimmest case possible to preserve the look of an iPhone. Bumpers and other cases covered the edges of the phone and detracted from iPhone aesthetics IMO. I mitigated drop protection by buying AppleCare+.

Good luck in your quest.

How is the Desmay for preventing dirt etc getting stuck underneath (which can end up scratching) and how is the texture, for example taking it in and out of your pocket, is there friction?

Thanks

Ajo- Fit is very tight. Zero movement once it is on. So far no dust has gotten in. However like all cases dust will accumulate on the edges over time.

The hand feel of the case is soft touch plastic, not rubberized. It adds a little texture to the back of the iPhone. Slips into and out of the pocket easily-- doesn't catch on anything.

Yeah, the Desmay is surprisingly a great case. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, and I came from a Feather.

Nice. Is that the "Clear" or the "Frost" on the white iPhone and is that an iPhone 4S?

Hi. I was reading this thread and wanted to contribute my two cents in the Desmay conversation.

As a warning for those interested in the Desmay case, it scratches really easily!! After I used the case for my iPhone for three days, it was already scratched and after five days, the logo was almost scratched entirely off! I did not do anything extreme with my phone.. I just carry it in my pocket and take it out to charge. I did not drop the phone to earn these scratches either! Not sure how it got scratched, but the scratches are noticeable too. I was disappointed in the low quality of the case because it is easily scratched and does not do a good job concealing the scratches..

Hm...interesting. The fact that you suspect of cheap material(s) used makes me wary of pulling the trigger on this.

I can attest to the Desmay being prone to scratching as mine was noticeably scratched up within days of receiving it. But honestly these scratches only show up when viewed at certain angles so I wouldn't necessarily let that dissuade you from giving this case a shot. As far as the logo is concerned, once it gets scratched (which it will), I'd suggest using a little olive oil and a soft cloth to remove it completely. It comes off pretty easy and I prefer the case without it.

Another vote for the Desmay. Had one on my 4S since launch and I love it.

(Mine is the 'clear' BTW, it came out a bit blue looking in the photos)

They're also ridiculously brittle at the corners and are prone to cracking/snapping. My girlfriend has already been through 2 of them on her 4S in less than 6 weeks. Luckily my local Apple Store has replaced them both times.

Err....but isn't that the point of a case? I'd rather a 16 quid case get scratched than my 600 quid phone

No, the purpose of a case is to help prevent your phone from scratching (or in the case of more rugged cases, from breaking). The purpose of a case is not for it to get scratched. Some cases are made from a material that isn't as easily scratched (while STILL preventing your phone from getting scratched).

My experience with the Desmay has been good. Over a week and no scratches. I don't treat the phone with kid gloves.

Another vote for the Desmay. I've tried about 10 cases before settling on the Desmay. Every case I tried made the iPhone ugly. My preference would be to go caseless. I mean, I bought this beautiful phone to get it covered up in plastic? Yes yes, if you drop it, you are toast. But at least Desmay keep most of the iPhones sleek form factor and provides some scratch protection on the back and sides.

+1 for Desmay!

Wondering if the case you refer to is the Casecrown Glider Slimfit case. Amazon link below. Really like the look of this case. Are you still pleased with it?

I've posted this in a few threads..but since this one is a new one..

My vote is for the skech/case crown sliders..which I think have the best combination of protection and thinness. Great rubberized/matte texture, felt lined, small bezel, covered top and bottom. Love this case.

Does anybody know if the Desmay would fit w/ a full body skin?

I agree that the Desmay does look nice, but it is still disappointing to have it scratched within a few days without any mistreatment to my phone :( Overall, I would recommend this case because it is aesthetically pleasing and does protect the phone from minor scratches.

Agreed!

I was too lazy to apply my skin for the back, but my screen protector for the front fits just fine.

anyone want volunteer to do a drop test with a Desmay case?

I've already dropped my iPhone w/ Desmay and I'm pretty careful with my gadgets. The result? A crack about an inch along the corner. I tried emailing them to see if they would send me a replacement but no go. I really really loved this case too and there is no other case as thin as this so I really hoped this would work out. :(

I've been trying to find a slightly sturdier reaplacement case that might be the next thinnest case but haven't found any that compares. I might also try and superglue the crack shut and see what that looks like.

So you've all been warned....DO NOT DROP!!

Also, I will second some of the comments made above about the case (and logo) scratching. Mine doesn't have any major scratches but you can notice some if you hold it up at the right angle. And yes, the logo wears off but maybe thats a good thing.
