I looked at some screen shots online of these two, and the bigger one is quite big, I think I like the more compact size of the smaller one, but it seems the camera is better in the big one, with optical image stabilization, that is the feature that is pulling me to the big one, but there do seem to be issues with it as seen in some threads here.

I do like taking photos, and video can be adjusted after if it is a bit shaky, but a blurry photo cannot be made clear with any image editor. I thought the phone pmus one has optical stabilization because it is bigger, and would need it, otherwise it would be shaky compared to the regular 6s.

is it worth switching the regular 6s for the plus for this feature? or is it possible to get clear photos with the 6s which does not have optical image stabilization?

I was thinking and saw there are apps such as camera plus. if I really want very good photos I would probably use my good point and shoot as well, it has an optical zoom, something cell phone cameras dont seem to have, if they did, I would leave the point shoot altogether and just go with my camera phone.

I wish apple had this in their regular phones.

another issue is my hands are sort of small, not tiny, but a bit smaller than the avarage woman's hands.

The 6S is substantially larger so you really have to take one for a test ride and see if you can live with it.

I've had my 6S Plus for 2 weeks now. I don't know what issue people are having with the OIS feature, as I've taken many photos and a few videos and they all turned out great. Dont let the larger size Plus model intimidate you. It only takes about a week to get used to the large size Plus model.
Oh, I do happen to have one problem with my 6S Plus. I think there was some crazy glue on the back of it because I haven't been able to put it down since I got it. :D Best smart phone I've had thus far. :)

It's good you've done your research! The iPhone 6s feels fantastic in the hand. I found the camera quality very good despite lacking the stabiliser. What got me to swap it for the plus was the battery life. I also prefered the larger screen for consuming content.

The backlight curtain at the top of the phone & pressure point on the bottom left are very common issues on the iPhone 6s Plus, however, they don't all have it.

I got lucky with my Sim Free 6S Plus. It has a great screen with none of the problems that others are complaining about in some of the threads here.

I have a 6 for work and also carry a 6s+ as my personal phone. Had I to do it over again, I probably would have not gone for the +. It's too big for my needs and gets uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. I thought I'd want the plus, after being annoyed with the small size of the 5s when reading web pages, but the 6 turned out to be good enough for that.

However, if you are mainly interested in pictures and videos, you should probably go for the plus. Not only do you get the OIS, but the battery life is better. I kept running out of battery life on my 5s when using it to take pictures on vacation. I can tell I'd have the same problem on with my 6 (though I otherwise don't have any issues with its battery life). My 6s+ has no such problems.

I'd recommend the plus if you intend to take a lot of photos and videos on your phone. As ftlum pointed out, you would most likely struggle with the 6s' battery when using it on a good day filled with photo opportunity. The image quality is as good as the plus in broad daylight, you'll see better results on the plus in low light where the sensor require a longer time to capture more light.

The other reason I recommend the plus is due to the fact that you're most like gonna have to use two hands with the regular 6s since you have rather small hands, so having a bigger device wouldn't exactly change it. Plus you might have a handbag to carry the phone around unlike us guys who usually stick it in our pockets (which is very uncomfortable actually).

I myself went for the 6s because I can handle it one handedly and like its portability. I have the iPad for media consumption and surfing on the go so having the plus would likely mean I'll use the iPad less often, in fact I've already opted to surf using my 6s at times as compared to the 5s previously. I do wish that the phone has a better battery life though, I've really struggled to keep it alive when I used it on tour.. Now I'll just bring a portable charger when I foresee a snappy day ahead.

If you are looking to take the plus just for the ois, take the 6s instead please.

On the other hand like others said.. bigger screen estate, more battery life and the ois.. if all these factors attract you.. definitely go for the plus.

I am more biased for the plus, major reason being that it can last me a whole day of heavy usage and lets me read a lot easily (mags, ebooks, comics stc). OIS came as a bonus to me.

Do remember, handling a big phone with small hands might be a bigger problem for you and keeping your hand steady while taking a photo a better solution.

I am 4'11 and have tiny hands. And I LOVE my iPhone 6Plus.

Last year I let myself get intimidated by the size but honestly, I can't imagine going to a smaller device now.

For me, the comfort of the larger screen plus the battery life are the two things I won't do without now.

I wish I'd gone with the Plus last year. Spent all year regretting my decision.

I got the 6S Plus for two reasons, OIS and better battery life. That being said, it took me about 5 minutes to adjust to the difference in size compared to my 5S, and after 15 min the 5S felt like a toy in comparison. Never ever have I felt the 6S Plus was too big. I do, however, have fairly big hands, but unless you have tiny hands I doubt it will be much of an issue. Also, the screen is pretty awesome and well worth the "upgrade" in itself, imho.

Pocketability of my 6S is much more important to me than the larger viewing area. Of the Plus. I have my iPad for that. I want something that would stay in my pant pockets *comfortably* all day.

Why not take one or both for a two week test drive?

I had both over the course of the last month, and ended up with the regular 6S, not even because of the huge size, but because of quality control issues and lag on the 6S Plus. Both replacements had the pressure point blemish on the bottom left of the screen and both lagged when compared to the speedy 6S, so long story short, happy with the 6S, hopefully by iphone 7 apple uses a better screen technology and more RAM for the Plus.

6s by a landslide. Optical image stabilization on videos, better battery life, sharper screen. If it helps any I had the iPhone 6 and opted for the bigger one this time around, best decision I've made. Yeah it takes a little getting used to using such a big phone but it's really worth it at the end of the day IMO.

I'm guessing you meant 6s+

If so I agree. The 6S takes pictures just fine, the video quality is good also as it does have software image stabilization, but the 6s+ with hardware image stabilization, better battery life, larger screen is the way to go. You can't really go wrong with either but I would get the 6S+. Good thing is right now is that they initiated the holiday return policy so you have until next year to return the device. Gives you a good amount of time to test.

6S Plus seemed big at first but after a day or so it feels pretty small lol, I want a bigger one XD

Yes I meant the 6s plus. Thanks.

i like my 6 plus, but sometimes i wish i had a smaller phone.

is that enough for me to downgrade? right now, no. the battery alone makes it worth it.

next year i hope they reduce the bezel sizes and make the footprint smaller while keeping the screen @ 5.5"

example:

both are 5.5"

OP, if the only differentiator you care about is photography, I would say get the 6s. Like others have said, the 6s and 6s+ produce identical quality in ideal light situations. OIS will help you in some situations, but I don't believe it's worth the extra size and extra $100.

Having said that, I'm loving my 6s+. When it's all said and done it will go down as my favorite iPhone (I've had the all except the 5 and 5c).

I went from a 6 to a 6s Plus and I love it. By far the best phone i've ever owned. Every time I pick up anyone else's iPhone, I wonder how I ever used such a small thing.

Came here to post the exact same thing. :)

It's a very YMMV situation when picking between phones of two different sizes. I haven't had any of the issues that other 6S Plus users have complained about so I can't really comment on it. My phone is perfect and I would never go back to smaller phones in the future.
