I'm reading this thread with interest. Why texting? If you use the apps for the iTunes store does that count as texting against your iPhone bill?
Trying to get all the information before I jump on the new iPhone and abandoned my trusty iPod touch.

Family of 4

any way i can get a plan around 1000 mins, 4 lines & phones for 150 a month or less? i'm dying to switch to at&t

Really confused

Why would the cost of an iPhone be any different than any other phone? If you wifi (free) and don't have a separate plan, how would my wireless know the difference?

£24.49 a month (i get 30% off as i have an O2 loyalty card)

600 mins
unlimited texts
unlimited internet

If you are still around haha...

Where did you get a 1000 minute plan that is only $30?! This plan would be perfect for me, but all I can find is the 450 minute $40 plan.

I was in the market for a new cellphone when the iPhone was announced. The total difference in ownership costs over 24 months between the Sprint plan I went with and AT&T/iPhone plan I was looking at was almost $2,000. I like the iPhone but not that much. It's not the one time cost of the hardware that keeps me away it's the high cost of the monthly plans compared to what I can get elsewhere.

$2000? I question your math.

If you paid $100 a month (which would be a rather large bill), that'd be $2400 total. Which would mean you'd have to pay just $400 on sprint over the course of 24 months, or about $16 a month.

I have two iPhones, 550 minute family plan, unlimited data on both, and 200 texts each=$133/month

So I am looking into getting a 900 min plan (59.99) plus the data plan (30.00) and 1500 texts (15.00). This comes out to 104.99, but does anyone know how much more taxes and surcharges will be? Thanks!

I have a question for all the iPhone owners out there--about how much a month do you actually pay for your iPhone plan?

For instance, if I were to choose the $59.99/month plan, how much would I actually spend after you add in fees, taxes, etc.?

add $30 to the $59.99 and about $5-$7 for tax and fees. around $95-100

I would recommend that anyone with AT&T check to see what discounts they might qualify for first. I save 24% on my voice, and iPhone data plan with my FAN discount each month.

I have an iPhone 3G

Rate Plan: 450 Minutes W/ Rollover (39.99)
Data Plan: Unlimited (29.99)
Text Plan: Unlimited (19.99)
Charges and Goverment Fees: about (20.40)

First month would be about 200 because of all the taxes and the fact that you pay for two months instead of one. I didn't pay the first month I had a different phone.

I pay about 104.28

When you forget to pay by even a day your charged an extra 36.99 fee.

Is there a place to find these discounts? I've been hunting around macrumors and the web to no avail. I am not a part of a university or corporation that gives me special discounts.

I hate AT&T's text plans. I came from Sprint where I paid $5 for 300 messages. With AT&T's $5 for 200, I always go over. But I don't need anywhere near 1500. (rant over) Can you help me find the discounts you wrote about?

I pay 80-85$/month which includes

10 free text/call/mms/anything numbers
100 daytime minutes
1000 evening/weekends
500 incoming minutes
2500 outgoing texts
unlimited uncoming texts
1gb data plan
caller ID
voicemail (not visual)
call waiting.

and i think that is all....i think
I thought all carriers offered at least a 5 day grace period.

i have been over a month late (I think, I know i was late) and i was never charged a "late fee" im in Canada though so maybe its different in the united states?
