Yes, I'm using it in this scenario. It works fine. What happens is, when you put your finger on the reader, it enters the complex passcode (that you've already set up on the phone) immediately automatically and unlocks the phone. My company requires the complex 6 digit.

Perfect. Thank you. And thank you Tamvly.

No, no, no.

Touch ID was never about better security, only better convenience. There needs to be a way to get in to your phone if the scanner fails. A lot of people don't seem to get this.

I never agreed with this although I really don't care one way or the other. In the event you forgot your passcode in the past there wasn't really a backup to get into your phone. Should be the same.

Right now I have both Touch ID and the standard passcode set up as security for my 5S. For the life of me I cant figure out if it is possible to just have the Touch ID set up for unlocking the phone without the passcode option for unlocking as well. Does anyone know?
It is not possible. But you can set up your unlock code to alpha numeric by unchecking simple lock code. Set it to something complex and it's basically fongerprint only.

Where it gets annoying and heat really bothers me is that when you slide to reply it click on the westher for that matter you then need to enter pass code (or use scanner)

All I want is the scanner to be ther as my alternative to the slide to unlock. That's it.

As far as I can tell this isn't possible.

This is the only problem with touch id...you need to scan every time you access your phone from the lock position. There's no option to leave unlocked for a certain period of time.

I was confused as well as it seemed that if I pressed the home button briefly I was always presented with the "slide to unlock" screen which requires one to re-enter my passcode (which is now lengthy).

TouchID seems too work at this screen too, so don't let it fake you out. Only tried it with a simple pin though, YMMV.

I read somewhere that Exchange Activesync policies will in the future allow admins to govern use of biometrics, but at this time it isn't governable. I dont have a link, sorry. for now, admins can only govern whether you have a password set, and the ability to require a complex password. Agreed, I would prefer it allow a delay as before TouchID
