i have had my 6s plus since launch day and maybe two or three times the Touch ID doesn't recognize. It doesn't even say to try again. I have to swipe and then press my finger on Touch ID. I'm assuming it's software bug since it works 98% of time but anyone have this hapoen
I have had his same problem where it would work maybe 1-2 tried out of every 10

Since I have purchased an otterbox and the little fingerprint sensors thing built into there cases has actually improved it a ton!!

I have this problem too. I don't actually know how to activate it, but sometimes, when I am trying to unlock the phone my sliding the Touch ID, it won't capture it and it won't even said try again, then after that it won't capture any finger print / try again when I try to unlock it with Touch ID again until I unlock it with passcode then it start to work normally again.

can I ask which serie of otterbox?

I don't doubt you (or the others who have had this issue before), just as I said it simply is interesting to me when I see a thread detailing touchID issues since I've never seen them myself. Have you tried doing a software restore via iTunes since you said it might be a software bug?

I've had the same issue and Apple's advice to me was to reset the phone and set it up as a new phone, installing all my apps manually instead of restoring. Since that is way too much hassle, I am just putting up with it, instead. However, I have figured out that in my case, disconnecting the phone from power is enough to get Touch ID working again.

You mentioned Touch ID has issues plugged in, does it have issues on battery? There have been quite a few threads about improperly setup outlets causing screen and Touch ID issues whilst plugged in.

I had orignally set up my iphone 6s plus as new so if it still happened with mine than that doesn't work. I didn't back up. I manually downloaded all apps. IT seems to be working better, i cleaned it so maybe it was dirty.. who knows.

No, it seems not to have this issue when not plugged in. How can an outlet be improperly set up? It is an Apple-branded charger cord, with a good quality third party charger.

An outlet could be grounded incorrectly or not at all or have a dirty supply for whatever reason. These electrical issues can manifest themselves as phone problems.

This happened to mine... Launch 6S worked flawless.

Then started getting failures. I then noticed that the home button had movement in it when you lightly touched it you could hear a audible click.

Took it in got my phone swapped and it has been 100% since then again.

Yes, that seems to be the problem! Thank you!

My 6s+ Touch ID is nearly instantaneous.
This isn't the problem we're having. Touch ID works 97% of the time, and in those instances, it's instantaneous. What we're experiencing is that every now and then, it's like Touch ID isn't even turned on. It doesn't even know a finger is being placed on the home button. No response, no error, no "try again", nothing.

I have never had much luck with the touch ID. I do admit that my 6S+ has the best touch ID of any of my iPhones to date but still will fail about 20% of the time. I have tried everything and it still is not as dependable as I would like so I do not use it.
