I'm really hoping my DadaistBoard finds a place of prominence on the App Store…

Please make this available on the App store :p. I would install it on all of my friends' phones. On a related note, have you guys ever edited the messaging abbreviations on a friend's phone? You can get it to change common words like "Hey" to "Praise Satan". It's a great prank.

I used to love Grafitti on Palm OS (yes, I am that old), but I guess it's wishful thinking we'll ever see it on iOS.

Well, it'd certainly be very possible to do with iOS 8. The only thing holding someone back would be if someone still owns the rights to Grafitti- then again that person or company stands to make a few dollars if they make or license it for iOS.

Cursor Keys, Please

That's all fine, but I just want a touch keyboard that has cursor keys. Just in a thin row along the top or bottom... as an option.

I find the touch-hold-wait-drag method of selecting text and moving the cursor very... inaccurate and kludgy.

Everything is still sandboxed. That's the beauty of it.

Sandboxing never worked and never will. It was blown open from the beginning. Even running linux under a VM under OSX was blown open and as far as what I've read still is just one big security hole.

There's no point any more. Just open the whole thing up so we can have AT LEAST, AFTER A FEW YEARS what Android had years ago.

Security on anything internet connected does not work and never will.

the appeal of swipe style keyboards is that you can type without looking at the phone and with one hand only (supposedly). i personally don't care though. i'm a wizard with the default one.. :p

Ha, me too. Although having the option of a swype keyboard will be nice. All about options!

You can keep the train wreck of infuriating pseudo-open nonsense Android has.

I didn't realize third-party keyboards was something people have been asking for.

I find that pretty amazing. I'll see how easy it really is to use when they release it, but I'm impressed by their demo.

It's a big deal. Even around here there's been a lot of people who've said they'd come back to iOS if it ever got a Swype-like keyboard.

(Swype is neat. It takes just a little getting used to, but then you can really fly with it. Forget trying to tap little keys. Just swipe over or near them in a stream for each word. Really cool.)

There's going to be a ton of all sorts of third party keyboards.

Perhaps even some just for fun, like this new joke Android keyboard for Game of Throne fans, which only types one word: Hodor!

I would also not be surprised to see a joke iPod wheel input one :)

Seriously, there'll be kid's keyboards, large ones for older people, night-time special ones for astronomers, and so forth.

Multi keys (numbers on the top qwerty row) and swype style thingymabob are two things I love about android and can't wait for it on iOS. Add to that the extensibility and were almost there! I might come back to iOS if they sort out the home screen...or lack thereof.

My favourite thing about android is the app drawer, with all my apps in alphabetical order. And a single home screen with a few of my favourite apps on, with a nice picture. Simplicity.

So yeah, can't wait for custom keyboards.

That's actually one of my least favorite things about Android. Apps that I don't have on my home screen are always another tap or search away and with the number of apps I have, I need them organized by type, not alpha. For example, I can peruse all my games in one folder which is far more useful than having them scattered across a list of 100 different apps. Sure, I can set up folders on my home screen in Android and bring them over from the apps drawer, but that's another step and now I have apps in two locations. To me, that's the antithesis of simplicity and it drives me nuts.

I like that Apple is TRYING to balance more openness, yet keep sandboxing alive. I also agree that advanced users should be able to turn sandboxing off (in other words, make jailbreaking a legit move).
