Gotta stay busy when there isn't much going on with Macs...

To be honest, there hasn’t been much going on with any brand of laptop or desktop computers.

I don’t think any form of VR or AR will become popular until WiFi and cell data make a large jump in performance and an even larger drop in price. Other than that type of software, there are very few programs that truly require a desktop or laptop. So no real news.

Wish I could find the blog post, but there was data that Google anted that Toyota did not want to share. Having gone thru a online marketing meeting, it is was scary what Google wants in order to comply in order to be listed in their searches. It was Google wants this and Google wants that.
I Know Porsche made these allegations back in 2015 and google denied it but Incan’t see much evidence beyond Toyota saying they felt like Android Auto is a security risk. Which they have a point with it being open sourced but other manufacturers don’t seem to have that concern. The overwhelming majority of after market units are dual AA/CP, but those won’t have access to ignition and car data. It’s just odd to me.

Well, Toyota, just lost a2019 Avalon sale. I've been waiting to retire my 2011 Avalon now that Toyota finally added Car Play. But "plug-in". Talk about inconvenience. Currently just leave iPhone in my pocket and can listen to Bluetooth Audio and get and receive calls. Get messages easy to see with Apple Watch, but having Car Play would have been great. But can't think of on easier way to forget your phone than to leave your car with your phone hidden in the console plugged in.
Sorry, Toyota, after years of holding steady with you guys, I think it's time to look elsewhere.

Do you charge your iPhone as you drive? Most individuals plug in their phones to keep the battery charged. Sure keeping it in your pocket is very convenient for short trips, but reading the "Wireless CarPlay" reviews show battery drain and inferior audio quality.

I would take wired Apple CarPlay any day with using this system. It works faster, and the audio fidelity is superb when it's plugged into the car. In my usage our family has greatly enjoyed it, wired Apple CarPlay that is! Sure Wireless would be nice, but I think it's a ways off for them to work out the battery drain issues and overall system latency issues when wireless in the BMW's that have it.

It's great to see Toyota listened to the market demand and added Apple CarPlay because Entune 3.0 standalone was horrible.

I look forward to a new Toyota 4Runner redesign and Apple CarPlay in 2020!

Most people don’t have that concern. I think that they should, and that it should be implicitly spelled out what information is being gathered and sold, but most people really don’t care. Until something bad happens to someone as a direct result of information harvesting then that person won’t care. And when if it does happen then only the people affected will care.

In the end Toyota may have had an issue with this data not being shared with them. Hence a no go for AndroidAuto.

Being do late to the game and having wireless charging one should expect they use the lates technology and offer wireless CarPlay .... total fail to have Qi without wireless CarPlay in a brand new release...

Only brand with wireless CarPlay is BMW. I wonder what the holdup is.

Ford, GM, VAG, Mercedes, and FCA all have wifi modules in their cars to take advantage of this feature.

Those grills are hideous, but I guess you can say that they are distinctive. No one else puts that particular ugly grill on their car, so you instantly know it’s a Toyota.

My father says it looks as though the car is wearing a jockstrap on its face.
