This is the first time I have scheduled picking up my new iPhone at the Apple store rather than having it delivered to me. Since I don’t have the option to track it, just wondering if anyone has ever experienced having their scheduled pickup date moved back by Apple due to delays in shipping?

It has not happened to me but I read here a few years ago, with I think the X, Apple notifies you at least a day ahead if there is a push in your pickup day. The stores are getting phones in during the week and allocating to pick-up orders so they can plan ahead for these scenarios and let customers know.

You could check your store's current availability for pickup to see if your configuration is still available, if so that is a good sign they have plenty and will likely keep you on schedule.

Ive been picking up my iPhones for a couple years now with zero issues. Pickup is a lot quicker and efficient than waiting all day for your carrier to mail and deliver your iPhone. If anything, pick up is more reliable than any carrier. I tend to choose the first appointment of the day which is 8am-8:15am.

There will be two lines. One for walk-ins, and another for reservations. They will ask for the time your reservation and will tell you to wait by a table and a specialist will find you. Specialist finds you, they scan your QR code, request it, and another specialist will find and hand over your iPhone to the specialist who's helping you. They check you out and that's it. Like I said, its a very seamless process. You have nothing to worry about.

It's very rare for the store not to honor the in store pick up. They get enough stock to do some walk ins and presumably allocate the pick ups before any walk ins.

I did have a situation a few years ago, I think with the iPhone 7 Plus, where they didn't have the model/SKU in stock that I reserved. They gave me another color but more storage for no additional cost.

Kinda off topic, but I am going into work late today because of a doctors appointment but went in the mall to grab some breakfast. Overheard Apple employee's talking about folks being there since Monday. Apparently some of these folks have been camping out in hopes to pick up a 13 pro max Friday. I haven't seen or heard of people camping out for iphones in YEARS. If you haven't pre ordered for in store pick up there might still be hope!

I haven’t set up a new iPhone since the 10. Will they let me set up my iPhone in the store? Even though it will be busy?

I chose instore pick up for 8:15am slot.

also, anyone else still have a pending charge for the tax amount?? I’m part of the iup.

They definitely will let you set it up in store. But if you’re restoring from iCloud, you might be there all day. Their wi-fi is usually garbage and very slow.

Ahahaha. I prefer delivery over in-store pick up. From my past experience for past few years when I did pre-order. I did both delivery and in-store. I tend to notice that in-store pick up, phones are usually made in August (should not really matter). But with delivery, they tend to be hot off the factory. But since Apple changed the serial number system. I don't think it really matters. But for me I prefer phone that is made more recent than old. lol

I’m the opposite. I don’t want an iphone made close to delivery bc i think it may get rushed while assembling it. August is fine with me.

I don’t see any line in this particular photo which I thought would be related to the content of your post

Agreed. I think those days are long gone unless something revolutionary by apple comes in the future. People don’t see smartphones as anything special to stand in line for anymore.

Last time I camped put for the first gold iPhone. Remember buying 2 of them and flipping them immediately for big profits. I was younger in my 20's. No kids. Today at almost 39 and kids life is different.

Yea, I'm not super anal like that so it makes no difference to me 😂

Hello my Class of 00, 2000 friend. lol.

As I get older I find myself opting for more stress free things. I chose in store pickup over having to take off, having it rerouted to a UPS store, having to ask a neighbor to accept it, or having to stock my ring cameras to see if it got delivered. lol.

This pic was taken very early this morning. Some of the folks said to be camping out went inside. Just what I heard from apple employees. I got a bad pic I guess. But you tow are right. The days of camping out are over for the most part.

Your math doesn’t check out. The first golden iPhone was the 5S released in September 10, 2013. If you’re almost 39 today, you were not in your twenties then.
