still heaving the problem on the late 2013 Macbook pro that the coursor is jumping to the top left corner when 3 Finger dragging. I already did the "xp dpi" thing. Any suggestions? Sometimes it works in applications like the browser. But i cant drag windows or icons on the desktop.

edit: everytime I check the "dpi XP style.."-field.. it is unchecked after the reboot?

@fishgraete: 'XP DPI' (as posted here: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/18728670/) is an ultimate, 1000% working solution. I am so sure, as I know how many 'Retina' people got the Trackpad++ 3-finger drag fixed with this setting (both in Windows 7 and 8). By the way this OS setting shall not be cleared on reboot, so what you are experiencing is not the correct behavior. Something (some application, service, or simply a defect in your specific OS installation) is affecting the setting. Note that this setting becomes effective only after reboot. So you what really need is to have this setting permanently saved.

@CocaCoca: I have been reviewing the topic when I noticed that I had missed your last question. Sorry. The answer is, no new test version is available yet. But later this year something is definitely coming. As always, I will post any news and updates right there, in this topic.

Cheers,
Vladimir

Test Mode remove Corrupt Windows 8.1

Hi,

I am running latest MBP late 2013 with windows 8.1 Enterprise VL. the windows is activated correctly with my MSDN account's key. I have been using trackpad++ free version and just recently registered it because it give me back the Mac OS track pad experience on MBP with Windows.

However, I have been notice my windows 8.1 enterprise do not show the "Edition" in PC Info. the Edition simply shows BLANK. at first, I didn't know this is related to Trackpad++. but found solution by running following 2 command

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC /Scannow (runnning this alone will not fix anything and show corruption cannot be fix)

Then my windows is working fine and the Edition info shows "Enterprise" correctly. SFC Scan result says 100% good without any corruption.

Trackpad++ was uninstalled due to weekly update before I ran the above 2 commands.

Then today I register Trackpad++ and install PPA and Trackpad++ again. But run into the annoying Test Mode water mark issue. Running "bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF" fix the Test Mode issue but which corrupted Trackpad++. So finally I have to run the fix patch created by Vladimir. This does fix the Test Mode water mark issue and preserve Trackpad++. However my Windows Edition Info is Blank again. Running bcdedit won't wipe my Edition info. only when running the Test Mode fix patch wipe my Windows Edition info. So I believe my initial Edition Blank issue was created by Trackpad++ or PPA installation.

This is serious issue. I do not care if this is cosmetic or what, because by running SFC /SCANNOW I get the following result now which indicate my windows integrity is bad.

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot."

So Obviously, trackpad++ is not a perfect solution after all? because it seems it is hacking windows to allow the unsigned trackpad++ driver to be installed. then Test Mode and Trackpad++ have to live together. Running Windows Official command to get rid of Test Mode simply kills Trackpad++. Running the Test Mode Fix patch will corrupt windows base on SFC scan result.

Vladimir any help?

Thanks and sorry for the long post. I have been dealing this issue for hours and really annoyed.

BTW, after running SFC/Scannow just to see my windows integrity which "corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them", and the Test Mode water mark is back.

@BatKing: When explaining the situation to people I sometimes use the phrase 'unsigned 64-bit driver'. But in fact the driver IS signed. But it's certificate is not cross-signed by Microsoft, that makes it effectively 'unsigned' from the OS point of view. A Test Mode shall not be misinterpreted as Safe Mode. The Test Mode means the system is operating completely normally, it just allows loading of the drivers without Microsoft's cross-signature. In fact, a completely unsigned driver would still fail to be loaded, even in Test Mode. Also, it's worth to know that for 32-bit drivers (which cannot run on 64-bit OS) Microsoft has no such rule. Microsoft has for some reason denied this by default for 64-bit OS only, and introduced that 'Test Mode' desktop label.
Both the standalone fix I had posted there, and, via normal setup scenario, the Power Plan Assistant itself are capable of handling the Test Mode thing (it's one of the reasons why PPA is the prerequisite for Trackpad++). There is a note about this on the website, and, more importantly, during the installation a big fat confirmation dialog appears - see attachment.
To summarize, every user of the 64-bit Windows on a Macbook is presented with the following options:
(1) Do not use the Trackpad++ at all;
(2) Use Trackpad++ with Test Mode label on desktop;
(3) Use Trackpad++ without Test Mode on desktop, which requires emptying 2 resources strings in 2 libraries.
The option 3 is not a 'real hacking', this can be verified with all the existing antivirus software on the planet Earth. As you had noticed, Windows edition string is also the part of Test Mode label, so it is also removed, and thus may not appear in some other places. As for the option 2, yes, it is achievable with sfc /scannow even after applying the original fix. That is actually by design, and that makes the fix completely safe and revertible.

Is a valid cross-signed certificate on the roadmap for this project?
Months away? Years?
Or is it never gonna happen?

Hi Vladimir, Thanks for the prompt reply.

Another thing I notice is sometime when I restart/shut down windows, I get a .Net error message popup about cannot get Target button....

@BatKing: In theory this might be thrown by Power Plan Assistant, although I had never seen such an issue or read about it from other people. And too strange that, as you indicated, this message appears only on shutdown and not even every time. Sorry, I have no ideas right now. Thank you for reporting.

I've had that issue for a long time. I never reported it, though. Awkward. :p

@ALL: Usually I let 5-6 users to try the (already internally tested) beta versions for a week or so before releasing anything to public, but sure, it would be very good if every user reported any found issue. So, do not hesitate to report! :)

Bug in Trackpad Driver

Hey Vlad, I've found a bug in the software that causes the scroll area to only be available at roughly a quarter of my screen (the top left quarter). Scrolling will not work in the other parts of the screen. I tried with both my Late 2013 MBP Trackpad and my Razer mouse. I only know that it was caused by Trackpad++ after turning off possible programs one by one and trying to scroll in Chrome and Excel.

I recently upgraded to the latest version Trackpad_Plus_Plus_Driver_Control_Module_Setup_30b_06052014.

A possible cause might be the recent Windows Updates that were pushed out conflicting with the drivers of Trackpad++ as that was the last thing I did prior to restarting my system and finding the bug. Listed below are the updates which were installed prior to this problem.
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2962409)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2965142)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2965699)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2966804)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2969339)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2969817)
Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2939576)
Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2957189)
Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2964718)
Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2964736)
Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2965788)

I've now turned off Trackpad++ and scrolling is working at all parts of the screen. Hope that you can find a fix to this problem soon.
Thanks
Brandon.

@exclusionist: Thank you very much. Issue confirmed and narrowed to KB2962409. Affected systems: those with DPI scaling > 125%. The good thing is, there exists a quick workaround: from the Trackpad++ Control Module set the 'Respect Focus' option to enabled, and scrolling will work as expected.

Trackpad non-responsive

Hi Vova,

I recently purchased a MBA 2014 model and decided to try out trackpad++ with Win 8.1.

During the installation I selected "no" when asked if I was using the MBA 2013 model. Obviously this was a mistake and I should have selected yes.

The problem is that as soon as the installation was complete my trackpad died completely. I have completely uninstalled the power plan assistant as well as the trackpad++ driver+application but the trackpad remains non-responsive. Right now my device manager shows that I am just using the driver for a HID compliant mouse.

Furthermore I have tried re-installing the power plan assistant and the trackpad++ application+driver and selecting "yes" to the MBA 2013 option but this does not help.

Please let me know if there is anything short of a format that you can suggest which would bring my trackpad back to life.

Thanks! :)

Trackpad++: Alternate Trackpad Driver for BootCamp

Reinstall boot camp drivers then trackpad.

Reinstall boot camp drivers then trackpad.

Is there any particular method I should use to re-install the bootcamp drivers? I basically just selected the "roll back" option within device manager which took me back to the old driver and this did not work. Should I have done it a different way?

I'll try repeat the process again this evening and provide feedback.

@looxonline: Oh yes, this was the big mistake, but still the fixable one. To fix everything, the Boot Camp drivers shall be reinstalled, then the Trackpad++. To reinstall the Boot Camp drivers properly, access the USB flash drive from which you installed Windows. Boot Camp Assistant app in OS X should have created the 'Boot Camp' folder there, it contains all of the drivers, just run 'setup.exe' from there. Don't worry, it's completely safe to reinstall them, even multiple times. If the original flash drive had been emptied/formatted, you can create it again in OS X via Boot Camp Assistant app.

I would appreciate if you return here and let us know everything is fixed.

Cheers,
Vladimir

Hello,

I am using bootcamp with a new 2014 Macbook Air. I have Windows 7 installed, 64-bit.

I installed the latest version of trackpad++ (3.0b).

I can do 1-finger drag perfectly, but I cannot do 2-finger drag anymore (I can do it on my macbook air 2011 with trackpad 2.2b).

The option to do "Classic hold-click and move drag" is disabled in trackpad++ 3.0b, as you can see in the attached screenshot.

How can I enable it?

Thank you

@ilovetrackpad: Thank you for reporting.

Trackpad++ has two, and only two types of a drag feature:
- 3-finger drag (works similarly to OS X implentation, and, by the way, is the top feature of the Trackpad++ according to the user feedback)
- 2-finger drag (classic hold-click and move drag, which in fact cannot be disabled)

There is no 1-finger drag, so if you can use it, you are still using the Boot Camp driver, not the Trackpad++. Front-end has been installed, but somehow driver is bypassed. I think none of the 3/4-finger gestures are available, right? This could be another sign the driver is bypassed.

Suggestions: please try to reinstall the Trackpad++. Quit the Trackpad++ Control Module from the tray icon first to ensure the correctness of the installation procedure.

Vlad,

If you intend to keep trackpad++ free, why not release the source code?

*edit*

Nevermind. It's not really free, as it stops working without a weekly "update" unless users donate.

No one else finds this suspicious? How do we know Trackpad++ isn't acting as a keylogger, sending info back to the creator during updates?

@Quantus: Honestly I even like such battles. This forum a good place for sharing the opinions, including the most specific ones. Please note that since the Trackpad++ is the kernel mode driver, it doesn't require any updates to be employed for the Dark Side. I mean, if I wanted to steal something, I could do it without updates, trust me :) On the other hand, there is an ultimate VirusTotal.com check. 0 of 51 antiviruses detect any malware/keylogger/whatever, and Trackpad++ is there for years. Logically, either the software is 1000% innocent, or I am the most genius hacker in the universe to continuously bypass all (!) of the antimalware/AV engines in the world. You are free to choose what to believe.

Hi Vladimir,

Thanks for explaining. I reinstalled Trackpad++ and have learned to use the 3 finger drag perfectly now, thank you!

I have one more question. I am using Trackpad++ 3.0b and I disabled the pinch-to-zoom option by deselecting the checkbox.

When I restart windows, the checkbox for pinch-to-zoom is selected and enabled. This is annoying. Can you please fix this?

Edit: This doesn't only happen when I restart windows. After disabling pinch-to-zoom, I can right click the trackpad++ icon in the taskbar and click Exit, and re-open Trackpad++ Control Module.exe and the pinch-to-zoom checkbox is enabled. All of my other settings are exactly how I adjusted them, except pinch-to-zoom. Please help
