couple of questions for the dev or current users please:

1) are gestures now configurable? can i do 2 finger swipes for back and forward in chrome, just like in os x?
2) if i pay/donate.. can i get just the trackpad driver and no additional programs/toolbars/etc?
3) does this still require you to disable driver signing check?

@Trebuin: Actually this should be handled automatically by Power Plan Assistant. Another option is to try this standalone fix (made by me):

http://powerplan7.com/Windows_8_81_x64_Test_Mode_Remover.zip

After reboot the test mode text should be gone, yet the driver will function. The only thing which could affect the success of the fix is your locale settings, the fix is 100% verified to work for English Windows 8/8.1, and also with a few other localized versions. Nevertheless, it's 100% safe to try, even multiple times.

@radiohead14:

1.) No, but this is planned for one of the next versions; if everything goes smooth, then before the end of the year or early in 2014;
2.) Regardless of the fact of donation the Trackpad++ is proudly clean from any sort of adware. The Power Plan Assistant displays the ad once (in the installer). You can agree or decline, nothing is forced, nothing is hidden;
3.) For 64-bit OS, still requires. All the 'thanks' to Microsoft, actually. If such the mandatory signing with special, expensive, mandatory-yearly-refreshed certificate is so important, why it's there only in 64-bit OS? So it's important to understand that the entire disabling thing is simply the revert to behavior of 32-bit system. Even 8.1 in the 32-bit flavour still allows this out of the box.

I like the driver but isn't it possible to let the user set the action that is triggered by some of the gestures. That is the part I love so much about BetterTouchTool. You can set your own action to any gesture. I.e 3 finger swipe up set to some keyboard short cut that the use chooses.

@dusk007: You are right. Only the future version of the Trackpad++ will bring the gesture customization to Boot Camp. If everything goes smooth, I expect the new version to become available early in 2014.

Hello Vladimir,
I really like Trackpad++ and it's working great so far on Windows 8.1, but I have one strange behavior:
I have a Late-2013 15" Macbook Pro (my first macbook pro) and "Tap-to-click" is active. Now, everytime I close the lid the touchpad is randomly clicking in the middle of the screen. It seems the touchpad is still active when the lid is closed and the touchpad recognizes the screen as a click. Is it possible to add a option in trackpad++ to deactivate the touchpad when the lid is closed ?

a13xde: Thank you for reporting. An issue is, I cannot reproduce such the behavior. Could anybody else please confirm if you have the same issue with the closed lid?

@ALL: If you are the long-term user of the Trackpad++, then, please, consider supporting the project by donating. You will not be disappointed by what is coming in the future (including the 'Microsoft-blessed' driver, which is directly connected with the financial state of the project). Please let me thank You in advance!

Cheers,
Vladimir

Found this thread thanks to Google - thought I was going mad, but yes I have the same issue. MBP Late 2012 model, paid Trackpad++ user since day 1. hooked up to monitors when i'm at my desk. When the lid is closed the cursor goes haywire, opening windows, scrolling / dragging. I have to leave the lid open slightly or keep disabling the trackpad every time I reboot.

I think you need to find a way to automatically disable the trackpad when the lid is closed.

Hi Vladimir,

some additional info:

Even if only the Boot Camp drivers are installed, the behavior is the same.

I've also found a discussion on apple.com about this, but with no answer:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5063179

This is a really annoying behavior. I would be very grateful if you find a solution for this and you will have at least one more happy supporter for this project :D

Signed driver? *choir music* Thank you very much for making using Windows on my Mac an enjoyable experience Vlad! I am very glad that I donated!

@ALL:

Today I am pleased to release a public beta of the highly anticipated next version of the Trackpad++.

The great news are, the Pinch-to-Zoom (2-finger zoom) gesture is now enabled for all of the supported Macbook Retina / Pro / Air models, and shall be equally functional in Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1

http://www.powerplan7.com/Trackpad_Plus_Plus_Driver_Control_Module_Setup_25a_11282013.exe

Simply install this version over the current one. Or you can install it (PPA -> T++) to a clean system, does not matter. Just one thing, please always quit the Trackpad++ Control Module from its tray icon before reinstalling. This will ensure the correctness of the installation procedure.

Please, provide a feedback in the form "MBP/MBA generation - Windows version - Does the feature work in general? - Are there any issues found?".

Cheers,
Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,
I've tested the beta release with a Late-2013 15" Macbook Pro on Windows 8.1 and the pinch-to-zoom feature works like intended. No accidental zoom when scrolling and so on. Good work !

Just one thing: It would be sad if no three finger gestures are possible with enabled pinch-to-zoom. I Hope this is a limitation of the the beta version, because I can't live without 3 finger middle click any more :)

@a13xde: Thanks a lot for the feedback! Actually, you noticed it right - legacy version 2.3d option is gone now... it shall 'return' with the new power, in a form of the future Trackpad++ version which will allow better gesture customization. But currently, 3-finger dragging is always enabled and ex-3-finger gestures have become 4-finger. This is no surprise, as the version 2.5a is inherited from 2.4 branch, not from 2.3.

@ALL: Slightly tweaked version will soon become official, please wait 1-2 days. I'm sorry if the beta expired for you.

The below information is requested frequently, so let me put it there. An updated list of the advanced 2-3-4 finger gestures available with Trackpad++ 2.5 beta on Macbook Retina / Pro / Air running Windows 8 / 8.1:

1.) Horizontal 2-finger swiping to the left from outside the right edge (action: show/hide Charms Bar, the gesture shall be performed like this:
http://powerplan7.com/OutsideSwipe.gif
2.) Horizontal 2-finger swiping to the right from outside the left edge (action: show/hide Metro Switcher if at least 1 Metro app is running);
3.) 2-finger pinch (action: zoom in/out);

4.) 3-finger dragging (action: OS X-like dragging);

5.) Horizontal 4-finger swiping (action: back / forward);
6.) Vertical 4-finger swiping (action: minimize/restore open windows);
7.) 4-finger tap (action: middle mouse button emulation).

Another improvements over the Boot Camp 5.x drivers:
- Accelerated/natural scrolling model implemented (no inertia yet, though... working on this now);
- Better pointer ballistics (i.e. how a pointer speed depends on a finger speed; six optimal presets built-in);
- User-customizable option to ignore accidental trackpad input when typing.

@ALL: A new Trackpad++ version 2.5a has been released officially.

What's new:

- Pinch-to-zoom gesture;

- Noticeably reduced Trackpad++ Control Module load time in Windows 8.1 specifically;

- 2.3d branch dropped (now only 2.5a is available, i.e. no version chooser during the installation).

Left Click, Right Click Erratic in Win 8.1

Vladimir,

I just created a new Boot Camp 8.1 partition and installed Trackpad ++ (the version just prior to today's release). When I'm in windows, I have to click the lower left (or right) on the trackpad multiple times in order for it to register that I clicked. It makes the trackpad almost unusable since I never know how many times it will take before the system registers that I performed an action (i.e. start a program, open explorer, click OK, etc.). Is there a setting I missed? I'm running this on a new Mid 2013 13" MBA.

Thanks,
Lee

@Whalensdad: Trackpad++ is much optimized for 1-, 2-, (&more) finger tap and inherits none of the Boot Camp-native driver issues with 1- or 2-finger tapping. Trackpad++ is not optimized for click by press, and recently I was even thinking to finally remove such option at all. I'm sorry for not indicating this clearly before, but it's because I have always had zero negative feedback, as absolute majority of people are 'tappers', not 'clickers' :) ...May I suggest to try 1-finger tap for clicking, 2-finger tap for right-clicking, 3-finger tap for dragging. Also, classic 2-finger dragging with click is available and works well (actually, that's why the physical clicking is still kept in the Trackpad++ - to serve the classic dragging).

Thanks for the quick reply. Being that this is my first Mac, I'm used to the "click" world of Windows. Let me give it a shot and see how that works. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks ;)

Thanks!

I'm also getting the following error with PowerPlan 7. It prevents me from opening PowerPlan 7 so I am not even sure it is running. Any suggestions?

@Whalensdad: I am sorry, but I could not reproduce the problem. If it persists, you can safely uninstall PPA and leave just Trackpad++. (Only the fact of the initial installation of PPA is mandatory for Trackpad++).

Fantastic!!! Pinch to zoom addition works great!!! Thanks so much and please keep up this awesome work Mr.Vladimir!!!

I'd give anything to have the 3 finger tap middle click and swiping back and forward and option again ;)

Ditto! For someone who lost their finger/s from injury, or born with it. Think of person with disability, like Apple implements features for impaired user via "Accessibility".

I always use three finger tap middle click and swipe back/forth in OS X Mountain Lion. When I use Windows 7 with newest version of trackpad, I ended up dragging something with 3 fingers every time. Then I booted back to OS X, I always mistaken 4 finger for swipe back/forth after I spend time in Windows 7 with this version of Trackpad++.

Please bring it back, Vladimir.

@ALL: I do listen to community, so I unofficially included the legacy binaries as the last-minute workaround. But the official support is now dropped (no further development/fixing will be done to 2.3 branch, primarily because it has become too different from the current version). So, here is the workaround for people who still want the gestures of the version 2.3d:

1.) Download and install the recent version 2.5a (please make sure to quit Trackpad++ Control Module from tray icon before reinstalling)

2.) Get the following registry tweak http://www.powerplan7.com/23d.reg
It's the MS Regedit (.reg) file, so after downloading simply double-click it and reboot.

Next year the new version of the Trackpad++ driver is expected. The primary new feature will be gesture customization. So, the current state of things is just temporary.

I would recommend the new (current) version 2.5a to everybody. Only revert to 2.3a if you know what you are doing.
