Wait I can get a refund on AppleCare/ I bought it for my computer and it still have coverage until 2023. Mindblown if this is true! How do you initiate this.
Yep... here's an article that tells where to go to contact Apple about it:

I traded in 13 apple devices -- MacBooks, iPhones, and iPads -- this past weekend at the Apple Store. No issues.

Just make sure the device is not associated with your Apple ID (sign out) and can power on. That was it. Ended up paying for my new 14" MBP with money still left on credit. ;)

Can someone confirm that if you buy a new MBP online with trade in - for delivery (not pickup) - can you bring the trade to the store and get the credit toward the online order instead of shipping out your old laptop?

Yes you can..you can either use that trade in towards your existing order, or they will give you a physical gift card that you can take home and make your order online whichever you choose

Ooooh. Good to know, thank you. Maybe I’ll just bring it to the store for safety. I should make an appointment then?

And just to confirm: I already received my new MacBook Pro. They can credit me for that order at the store?

That I dont know how it works..I just assumed that you placed the order for the macbook pro but have NOT received it yet..I think they can do it but you have to ask..and yes you make an appt online, pick the apple store near you, select specialist(U dont need to see an apple genius for this) select mac, like your doing a shopping appt, pick the day and time you want and thats it..took me 10 min to do it..but I had not placed an order yet, I placed my order yesterday but got the gift card last Monday was just waiting for apple to offer the extended holiday returns so went ahead and ordered

Right. Your situation is quite different to mine.

Yeah for me it was easier since I had NOT placed an order yet..but I think they should be able to credit your account with the gift card even though you already received the mac..no harm in trying

I don't believe Apple allows a trade-in after you've already received your new Mac if you didn't already have a trade-in as part of the transaction. It will only issue you a gift card to be used for a future purchase.

I brought it with me, but left it in the car – they didn't ask for it.
Just for anyone else who wonders about the chargers, the Trade-in FAQ states:

"Do I have to include accessories like chargers and cables?

No, you do not need to include accessories. If you choose to include any, we will recycle them for you."

Does each one net you a gift card? Wow 13 devices

Sent my trade in back on Friday, it was received on Monday and last night I got the confirmation email that the trade in was accepted for the full value. Super simple process, even faster than when I traded in my iPhone last month.

was it shipped to phobios?

Just to recap , I can order a MBP for delivery and set up trade in, and then sometime before receiving the MBP I can go to the store and conduct the trade in to credit to the order?

This is my scenario and the guy I pick up my mac with said they can do that. I’m coming Friday to turn my 16 for credit for my 14 purchase

I did my trade-in at the Apple store this morning. The process barely took 5 minutes and I got the full amount quoted.

I received the trade-in amount on a gift card, but they would have applied the amount to any purchase within the past 2 weeks. I bought my new MBP from Costco, so I was happy with getting a gift card on the spot with no stress or worries about mailing it it. Plus I was able to keep the adapter for my wife’s computer. Phobio wanted that sent in, so it was a win-win for me.

I tried this and it didn't work out well at the Apple store in San Diego. Their system wouldn't take my trade and apply it to my purchase. The only thing they would do is take the trade-in box and offer to give it to UPS.

However, they had no way to give me a receipt for taking it would have had to do it on trust. The truth of it is that would have been low-risk, but it was going to be no different than just dropping it into the UPS store. And with the UPS store, at least I would get a drop-off receipt.

I think that getting a gift card would have been an option however.

Honestly if that’s the case for my expertise this Friday I’ll just return my 14. Then Rebuy it with the gift card upon trade it.

Yeah - I was a bit annoyed to be honest. The associate was really helpful, but the system just wouldn't apply it to the transaction. The store isn't far from me but it was still a wasted journey.

I bought my 14" MBP online to be shipped to me. It will be here tomorrow. I also traded in my base M1 air for $620 credit. They're sending me a box to put the Air in and ship back to them, them being Phobio, I think. However, when my MBP gets here, I'm going to haul my Air up to my local Apple store instead and see if they'll do the trade there. I'll report back when it's all said and done and let everyone know what happens.

Good luck with that. I hope you have more luck than I did. Part of me feels tempted to just go get the gift card. It's not like I won't spend it with Apple anyway. ?
