Down to 87% two minutes after that post. All I did was use Safari. Wtf. Should I disable iCloud backup to my photo stream on Mac? Wondering if that's eating a lot of resources??

Is there a good app to estimate what's eating my battery so badly?
Give it more time. You just set the phone up and this is the first cycle using it, hard to base much on it just yet.

When should I be expecting "real world usage"? It's pretty disappointing to see these battery stats coming from a 6S and seeing the fantastic Usage/SOT others are posting from here. ;-; hopefully I end up with 7/8 hours SOT.

Worth mentioning in usually always on wifi and have an excellent signal.

I think you're overreacting. You just got a brand new phone with these super high expectations and im positive you have it in you're hand continuously turning the screen on just swiping through you're home pages. You also probably have email accounts downloading thousands of emails to a fresh install, photos being downloaded to the phone from the cloud, apps downloading, etc. Just give it a week of normal use, let the battery cycle and wait till the newness of the phone wears off where you revert to using it normally instead of a "new toy". Android users would be super happy with 5 hours of SOT and here you are complaining that you aren't gonna get 6-8 hours.

I'm overreacting because I spent money on a product that has acclaimed excellent SOT/Usage stats and I'm getting very poor stats? Also, I only have one email account in here that is a business email. I don't get constant spam/sync in the background.

Can someone give me some sort of source/link on the battery cycle refreshness? I'm fine waiting a week, really if it's going to actual turn out fine and end up lasting better than the 6S.

It's just that I definitely got better battery life on my 6S, so it's a little baffling. I'd really appreciate some sort of source on the battery cycle thing :p

As mentioned, it takes a few cycles for things to hit their stride or at least realistically come close to it with a new device.

As mentioned, is there a legitimate source on this?

A source that says that going by the first cycle or two on a brand new device with a brand new backup restored on it and performing a sync operation and perhaps various updates that you've gone thorough isn't the best realistic measurement of what battery life is generally like? More or less reality. I mean even after all of that taking a random single cycle or two of usage and basing conclusions on that wouldn't really be realistic--I have some cycles where my usage isn't good at all because the signal wasn't all that great or some app was syncing or I was doing something else that was more battery intensive (whether I realized it or not), just like I have some amazing usage times that are atypical because of other reasons at times, simply judging on those wouldn't really give a good idea of what things are like in reality, would it? It seems like this is the first cycle for your device, so you basically don't even have one, let alone anything more than one, to go off of, meaning it's hard to really say much about the battery one way or another in general based on that.

You got a source/link for that? Also, if you read through the thread I purchased it, factory reset it, and installed as a fresh new phone and only installed apps I actually use.

A link to what, reality? Sometimes I really wish there was one that could be shared. Not really sure what else could really be said aside form what's already been said.

A link to all the information you're giving me regarding the battery cycle stats. I'm not sure if you're telling me placebo information unless you give me a solid link as proof to this battery cycle thing you're telling me. It's seems like a phony answer no one is able to back up, is what I'm saying.

I'd totally try it out for this week and everything, but seriously, a link of proof of what you're saying would be much appreciated.

Like, do you have a weblink to provide proving the battery cycle information you're giving me? People keep stating this, without any backup proving it.

Could it be that you're using it more because of the larger screen? I wound up binging Netflix during my first week with my Plus. I couldn't get enough of the larger screen.

If its as bad as you say though, you're better off taking it to an Apple Store to have them test it. They might just send you home with a replacement.

This is already my replacement. Swapped last night. ;-;

Glad you got it sorted!
I didn't though lol. I'll give it a week for the battery "cycles" to take place.

Doesn't seem right, at all. Will post final stats once I'm down to 1%

See ? Now you are over reacting again. Stop it and use your phone as always. You have 14 days for the return.

I'm asking for a source based off of information that I've been getting, as no one has provided any sort of source behind this "battery cycle" claim. That isn't overreacting.

You getting this upset over my asking for a source is overreacting. I'm simply asking for information.

Also, if you read through the topic, you'd notice this is my second unit, as I already returned he first unit.

Read these below. When I got my new phones, pictures took a couple days to sink back up from iCloud. As such the wi-if was running constantly. I wouldn't test battery life until the 20 minute standby test showed little to no drop. This test is mentioned in the articles, so I won't bother explaining. At the point the standby test shows back ground updates and loads are completed is when a real test for normal battery life can be tried.

You most likely have an app that is hung up. A software problem. This is mentioned in the articles below. Again read them for yourself. It is highly unlikely you have a hardware issue, as most battery problems are caused by software that is hung up and running your radios trying to update.

If you don't want to believe me or what others have said, then don't. I don't really have to prove myself as I don't care if you believe me or not. I'm just trying to help. By the way, spending 20 seconds in Google search found these articles. Probably quicker than all your replys asking for proof and back up from people trying to help you.

Thank you for the sources! I appreciate it. Will look into it.

Having gone through 5 iPhone 6S Pluses since it released (not due to faulty units), I would definitely just give it time. The first few days are not indicative of how it will perform long term. I don't have links but this is my anecdotal evidence of using 5 of them.

To provide some sort of comparison I did a charge to 100%. Then standby percent drop test checking every 20 minutes. Had 1 % drop in two hours of standby. So I am sure I had nothing happening in background.

Here is the battery result down to 1%. 9 hours screen on time with over 40 hours standby.

This is much, much, much better than what I am getting.

What are you getting on the twenty minute standby test?

If you have a drop in battery percentage after twenty minutes of standby, something is run in background or radios are running.

Also, when you do the battery timing test be sure to hit the clock button to right of the 7 day switch. This will give you the screen time and background time each app used.

Drained 0%. The standby is amazing. However, when I'm using it...that's a different story. I'm going to live with the model I got, but seriously, I sure do hope the battery cycle thing is accurate and finishes soon lol. Would love to at least get 7 hours and thirty minutes of usage. :/

Ok good so doesn't seem to be doing anything in background. Did you read all the articles?

Did you do the things mentioned, especially what was mentioned in the Apple forum answers?

Post a snapshot of your screen in battery app runtime mode. Hit on/off button same time as home button. Be sure you are showing the app info for screen and background times, by hitting the clock symbol button.

Will do, going to go from 100% down to 0% and post.
