This is the new concern for everyone, if you're buying a used iPhone, how would you even know if it's on a payment plan or not? The seller could always lie, sell the phone, and then just stop making the payment plan payments. :(


That is the risk you take. My rule is to always pay below market value, that way if I get screwed I can alway sell the phone as is and recover most if not all of my money. I also not buy phones that are unlocked or that can cheaply be unlocked. This way my market is bigger.
 
Just to update this thread, I didn't end up going through with the trade. I found a 64GB 6+ at the Apple Store yesterday and just bought it full retail, letting me enjoy both phones now for a little while until I choose the one that works better for me.
 
VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION: Exchange original purchase receipts.

Video tape/store exchange wont do crap for that. As long as the phone has a receipt attached then you can unblacklist it.
