Ever since the 1.8 beta release (now 1.82) this issue has been resolved, albeit very recently, but for me it's fixed. Do you have a lot of active transfers when you shut down. That might have something to do with it.

I think transmission makes sure to remember the spot of each current download to ensure nothing is lost when it starts up again. (I know this is pretty obvious, but just my guess at "why".)

Transmission is garbage. Torrents never start for me and when they do Transmission gets very little seeds/peers when compared to uTorrent.

Also, lol at all of these people saying torrents are illegal. There are plenty of legal torrents out there. Most Linux Distros for example are distributed legally via torrents.

You probably have a configuration problem of some sort. I have been using Transmission for years now, without issues. It is lightweight, fast, and just works.

1.8 update has improved Transmission a lot for me.

It quits much quicker, loads quicker, remembers its window size and has Magnetic Links.

The best Mac torrent app out there by far. So light-weight, the GUI matches OS X and I get good speeds.

The only configuration I change is I update the blocklist and activate it. Everything else is default settings. I just tried out 1.82 and it did start faster than when I previously used Transmission so i'll continue to give it a shot unless it decides to stop working out of the blue like it has in the past for me.

I do not have this problem with the latest 1.82 version under 10.6.2. Try deleting the app itself and related pref file and app support folders. Then reinstall the app and reset your prefs.

You need to delete:

/user/Library/Preferences/org.m0k.transmission.plist
/user/Library/Application Support/Transmission
/user/Library/Caches/org.m0k.transmssion

I use AppDelete so it grabbed and deleted all of those already.

this issue has only worsened for me with the latest update, if i try to restart my computer, the restart will actually timeout because transmission takes so long to quit, i timed it 3 times, the quickest quit was 1:30. i have no quit using transmission as multiple ratio communities are starting to ban it now for shady torrent handling, so whatever i guess.
