At the end of the day everybody's needs are different and use their phones differently

my s4 lags to hell and back at times, getting pretty tired of it.
I have to press the home button twice to go back to the home screen.
Serious lag, I have to reset it for it to work fine again.
Seriously, when someone says the S4 doesn't lag, I have to question their sanity.
My S4 was LAAAAAGGGGGYYYY.
The S5 is an improved product for sure. The S4 was kinda terrible, which I think is a factor in the cut short life cycle.

S4 gpe
Last year it lagged a couple months behind I believe. Google io whenever that is?
Yeah mine was very laggy too, luckily not been the case with the note 3.
I was chatting to a chap over the weekend who is unimpressed with the S5 and is going back to his S4. This is something I have read in a few places online and I feel Samsung really need to tackle the lag and put as much effort into their UI as they do into the features they promote. This chap said with the processing power the device brags, it should be as smooth as silk. I think Sony must be enjoying the moment knowing they have released a phone worthy of snatching a few Galaxy customers. The market is volatile and seems to be fairly unpredictable of late.
Well he wasn't impressed with it. It wasn't worth the upgrade in his opinion but I can't argue that either way. I know the battery on the S5 is supposed to be really good.Go back to S4? Yeah, no way in Hell. Been on my S5 basically since I got. Smooth performer and the battery life is probably the best I've encountered since the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini. It's that good.
The S4 is quite a few steps in the wrong direction in comparison.
Well believe it as many people with the note 3 have have had no issues.
If other people have issues then that's unfortunate but never had a problem with mine.

I never had any lag on the Note 3 and yes I'm the first to criticise lag on my devices. Even in the gallery app which was meant to be notorious for performance I never had any issues with it on my Note 3 ......
The Note 3's solid performance was the only thing that made touchwiz tolerable for me to use as a daily driver. I don't miss touchwiz, but I appreciate the Note 3 was the only device I've had from Samsung that tamed it pretty much 100%...
I was one of the first people on here to criticise my Galaxy S4 for its micro stutters and hiccups, and my views on touchwiz are well known, so yeah I don't say praise about the Note 3 lightly.
Well, the S5 could be unimpressive , as I think, but surely is better than S4, so why to switch back ?

Well, I don't want to sound rude or irreverent, but I can find several YouTube videos showing stuttering and lags on every Samsung device powered by touchwiz, including the powerful Note 3. Since I saw that kind of issues on both my wife's S4 and my son's S3, I think it is a real issue. Also in several S5 reviews there are some lags reported .... I really think Samsung has to trash touchwiz completely because I tried an S4 GPE and it was a totally different device compared to my wife's.
On a side note, my Nexus 7 also has some lags and stuttering, especially during web browsing with Chrome. And it has vanilla kitkat ....

I take no offence, I'm just being honest from first hand experience my GS4's (with touchwiz hiccuped and stuttered) and the Note 3 never did. Never had to manage memory or disable services or apps either.
I find you can find youtube videos for most things these days, and often you don't know if they have messed around running a custom rom or have something else erroneous going on.
I've seen comparisons of devices for example supposedly showing the GPE S4 boot in comparison to Nexus 5 and the video is clearly trying to make the GPE S4 look slow, it's only little tell tale signs like a red bit of text on boot that lets you know that the person is actually using a Google rom and not a google edition... That's just one example of where a poster of video is not really being truthful or representative of the norm.
The general consensus from all the note 3 owners previous and current here on the forum who are actually using the device or used the device daily is that it's generally buttery smooth experience.
The GS4 GPE I have never stutters either, though surprisingly it can be temperamental with app crashes or sometime android stops, now and again. It could be ART Kernel at fault however not being optimised specifically for the S4 GPE..

Silky smooth is overrated. I prefer the faster speed of the S5 over the lethargic and slow scrolling speed of 5s.

It could have to do with the Kitkat update. I've heard of several people claiming lag on the Note 3 due to the update. Just know that for the most part the Note 3 doesn't lag. Myself and others are testimony to that.
