I'm never sure what someone means when he says iOS is "stale." I need clarification on that. Android hasn't changed any more than iOS over the years. They both still work with icons on pages, and the "guts" have changed little on both.

Totally agree. I had Android Eclair in 2010 and now I'm running Marshmallow, not on the same phone, I hasten to add. I've seen small improvements and refinements to the OS over the years, but basically it's the same, just like iOS is.

I know, I'm going way off topic. But I see nothing wrong with wanting a new phone just because you're bored with your current one, just as there's nothing wrong with wanting a new outfit because you're bored with your current style.

I'm with you on that. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my 2014 Sony Android phone, it works perfectly and the battery is good for two days, but I feel like a change and I'm sure I deserve a new toy, so I've ordered an iPhone 7. We frivolous spenders are the bedrock of the global consumer electronics industry, we have nothing to be ashamed about!

Im also puzzled by comments saying iOS is stale..
what and android isn't?

I used android phones from 2010 to 2013 when I switched to iOS on iPhones and I wouldn't switch back
.. I still have an Android tablet though .. every time I use it I wish it was an iPad ;)

For battery life and camera, the 7+ wins hands down (although against the Pixel camera may be up for argument). I had the Nexus 6P, 6S+, Nexus 6P (yeah), then the 7+, and the battery life is just amazing on these phones.

With the deleted 3.5 Jack, the 7 Plus has an additional two hours of battery, which made a signicant difference.

3500 mah battery in droid z in no way would give it a better battery life. I have an lg v20 with a 3200 mah battery and the battery life is an absolutly abysmal.

Iphone 7 plus may be a stale and whatever other adjective, but one thing it is, is an absolute beast when it comes to the battery life.

  • WiFi calling would randomly disable itself and would have to be re-enabled.
I can confirm I've had issues with WiFi Calling disabling itself and not working correctly previous Google Nexus phones as well, ie Nexus 6P. I read about various issues with the Pixel like the mentioned, which is why I didn't get it. WiFi Calling just works on iPhone and I don't even have the matching model for my carrier.

Audio jack was point of entry for moisture.

Not enough of material to have screens Apple demanded.

My Huawei usbc battery and charge time area phenomenal. Use to feel wireless charging S6 and S7 a must have. No more. The Mate 9 is first Android phone on par with iPhone (6S Plus).

I hate typing and editing on iOS. The wider keys and screen of mate 9 and better auto correct are strong points. (I use to palm a basketball so wide I'd better but weight has to come down which all new glass material might.)

Time that iPhone has 3 or 4GB RAM.

I am always finding new things with iOS.

Definitely not true when Samsung and LG both have the port and are IP68.

Head phone jack as a point of moisture entry argument is entry argument is as ridiculous as they come. Also, mate 9, while an extremely nice phone for the price, is nowhere near iphone 7 in terms of battery life, that is of course, if you can live with Huawei's super agressive power management which defeats a purpose of having an androind in the first place.

Maybe in stock terms but Android does offer greater all-around customization and after each manufacturer puts a twist on it it does seem a little less ubiquitous. From what I've seen I don't think 1 of those options comes close to iOS however.

While I agree about Android having more customisation options (although iOS can also be if jail Broken) .. I don't really see how it has changed/improved any more than iOS since 2010 when I was using Android 2 on my HTC Desire, hence if IOS is 'stale' then so is Android.

Cheers

Just to say I personally have never found Huawei's power management a hindrance. I'm used to turning off the wifi, bluetooth and GPS when not needed just as I did with my previous iPhone's.

The reason for my purchase of the P9+ was primarily because of the strong battery life and that the camera's on the back are flush with the body of the phone. The IR blaster is nice too.
